Tell you the truth....Most Christians do not even care how old the universe is. We live in the NOW and expect the future. The past is done.

I believe it is far older and that this is not the first "existence" that it has seen. I believe "in the beginning" is only one of many beginnings and endings that life on Earth and in the universe has seen. We cannot take Bible-time literally. In Psalms, a verse says, "For a day on earth is like a thousand years with God." Ok, to a thousand years with God could be like a million years to the Universe. The Earth is as it is and debating her age will only send us in circles because that's what time is - circular.

This is why you can't take the Bible literally, science has already proven, note PROVEN, the earth to be well over 10,000 years old. Why some people don't get it is beyond me, but when people live in tunnel vision they tend not to see the world as it is, but as they want it to be. They are to be pitied for not using the one thing God gave us above animals, a brain to think with.

Jon_X please use sources when making scientific statements. And for your information 'carbon dating' has been 'PROVEN' to be 'EXTREMELY' unreliable where as artifacts have been 'PROVEN' to be most reliable when compared to recorded historical eras.
According to the Bible the Earth is older than man as man/woman were created on the 6th day. One day being a thousand years to God that would put the Earth at roughly 12 thousand years or so.

..... and Dinosaurs never existed, early man (circa 40,000 years ago) obviously didn't happen and Aliens are a figment of our over-active imaginations and contrary to the pre-determined path of Humans in the Universe.
Well put me in a leotard and call me Bessy !
