This is a serious request, not a fraud. I need help from my community in finding a safe place to live and suggestions on how to get there. As this is becoming a frequently dangerous place to live-1.5 transgendered persons are murdered everyday by hate criminals-soon the real ID Act will take force and for me it means that without the proper documentation I will not be able to obtain a passport. I am from Ohio and only Ohio can change the sex designation on my birth certificate, which it will probably never do and I can't wait. So me and thousands of others will be non persons and will not be allowed to leave the country. So I need suggestions [no hate please, already had my share] on where a tranny can move to have a free life and ideas about how to raise funds to do so since I live in a town of 1500 conservative people, am 55 and cannot find gainful employment. Australia is starting to sound like it maybe a great place. Anybody know anything?

Perhaps your believe that you need to leave the country to be able to be who you are is premature. You mentioned that you live in a community of 1500 people. Maybe instead of trying to leave the country, you should try to move to another part of it. Try living in a large city where there are many millions of people who have every possible set of different beliefs. Yes, there will be people everywhere who hat eyou for what you are. But if you move to a large enough community, there will be people who support you, as well as people just like you.
As a sidenote, Australia would be a poor choice for a place to move because their laws are such that it is EXTREMELY difficult for immigrants to get jobs there because their laws give priority to natives in hiring practices. (That means that if any Australian applies for the same job as you apply to, the job would go to the Australian. They only give jobs to foreigners if there are no Australians who can do the work.)

Well, first of all, my deepest sentiment on all the hate you have been receiving....but you have to understand that sometimes close-minded people don't have the ability to somehow accept anything other than what they already know....(just look at the movie "Footlose" which I guess is somehow and to some extent, your situation).
Now, for the core of your question, I have always heard that Europe is one of the most open-minded continents in some of their countries, but in general you are better off in a large city where there is a wider variety of people and a large enough sector of the population that won't "pick on you" for whatever reason. So, if you are thinking about Australia, give Sydney or Canberra a try. Whatever you decide though, my best regards and I sincerely hope you find happiness.

What is the "real ID Act"? Thanks for answer.
Get your passport before this goes into affect. That'll give ya 10 years for the issues to be worked out. Also, think about moving to a more accepting part of the US. Bigger cities include more accepting people and other transgenders. SF Bay Area, for example, is fairly accepting. Leaving the country is not apt to be the answer since many other places have employment restrictions and can be even less tolerant. I wish you much faith, support, and other good stuff, too. It's tough, but it's not dire.

I am sorry you are in this mess....and it is a mess. Move away from a small town ASAP! That doesn't make sense, no matter how you look at it. Washington DC is a very big town with a very big Gay community, many transexuals. Perhaps you would be better off there...certainly more comfortable than Ohio. Good luck

Just about any large city. You need more help than anyone can give in this forum. Why haven't you used the net to make contact with other TG's and groups. Go to the International Foundation for Gender Education IFGE.com. Support to the TG community is what they do.
Luck

I heard that most of Europe is pretty liberal on sexual ideals. But in this country I would suggest going to certain parts of California, like LA or NYC. Maybe San Fransisco would be a great place.

Connecticut is the most liberal state as far as LGBT rights are concerned, Jobs are still hard to find for the TS community, but the you pass the better your chances.

why can't you gain employment? try starbucks. they still hire people your age. and try moving to a larger city, i don't suggest SF just because of the cost of average housing there. but california is generally alot more welcoming towards differences. so come out here and try it out.
