I'm trying to think of an analogy to explain the obvious. We both know why they don't come out and say it, because it is considered bad by most.
Excuse my analogy, but it gets the point across and pretty much the same level. Imagine you need to fart, but you don't want to do it in public because it's disgusting. But then you do it and decide to laugh about it. Everybody else thinks it's still digusting but a few that agree it's funny. same with being a racist, most will think it's disgusting but few might agree. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE COMPANY YOU KEEP....IN BOTH CASES!!!! I know a few low levels that could fart and everyone they hangout with would laugh. No class in the bunch. Same with racists, maybe they hangout with other like minded and are immune to right from wrong.
Ole saying, "you can cover sh!t, but it still stinks."

Because if you "claim" to be a racist, then you have "negative connotations" associated with your name, and anything that ever happens to anyone, black, white or other nationallities, they will automatically look upon your actions on where you were, when something went down!
No one wants "labels". It has negative image, and everyone wants to "portray" a positive image, even though, thier beliefs dont 'jive' with that image, they still want to try and justify thier own ways of thinking.
Lets face it, if your a bigot, racist, or other things like that, your a "pariah" to Society!
I wish you well..

Some people just dont realize how raciest these statements actually seem to others. They may not feel that they are targeting these people racially. They believe these are simply innocent comments. It comes with stereotyping I think. They associate certain undesirable or neighborly acts to a certain race because of past experiences or social pressures. They dont stop to think that its the behavior itself that is undesirable , and is common in people not a particular race of people. They dont even realize that they are bigots!

Because they are ashamed that they are and know it isn't right to be so, so they make themselves feel better by saying they are not a racist.

They probably think that real racists wear white sheets and burn crosses.
That and they don't want to be treated the way they treat other people.

I know, it's really annoying. I think that they just don't see that what they're saying is wrong or predjudiced. They set themselves apart from other racists in their minds, because they're selfish and proud. I couldn't agree with you more.
