my husband and i argue because he does not believe ing ghosts because it does not talk of human spirits staying on the earth. and Jesus doesnt count becuase he is Gods son. We both grew up in church, but i also grew up in a home that i do believe was haunted, i think it is very possible that ghosts exist.

Athiests look for empirical truth, and say that they will never believe in God unless he can be empirically proven to be real. But how do you demonstrate that empirical evidence is a good way to understand truth WITHOUT being circular in your argument? How do you know that poetry, or impressionistic painting, or the Bible, or rythmic drumming is the best way to understand truth?

There's a church near here ( Knights of St Columbus) that has a casino night every Friday. Bingo , Blackjack, etc; They say it's OK to gamble in small amounts. Does that mean it'sOK to kill, but only 1 or 2 people a week? Or to covet the neighbour's wife ( but only on Tuesday) ?

I am not writing this to insult the Catholics but I think that being catholic is complex because their religion demands and requires too much from their followers. I have a grandmother who is catholic and she discards the rest Christian religions. The majority of my Uncles were Catholic, but they changed to Evangelism. My mother was raised catholic but she changed to an evangelist also, but it was mainly because of me. I almost was baptized catholic but for certain reasons that don't have to do with religion it didn't happened. My father was in the Army someplace else, I had a aunt and neighbors who decided to bring me to their Evangelic Church, and my mother ended there without any pressure.

I have been attracted to Catholicism, but for many reasons I don't convert because even converting is a problem. I don't like the idea of confessing my sins, which are like deep and intimate secrets to a stranger, so I guess that would make me sin more because I would lie.

Christians will say that Jesus completed God's plan.
Muslims will say that Muhammad is the 'Seal of the Prophets'.

That's how both of them explain why there was a time when God was regularly speaking to people - but that that time has passed. I've never really heard the Jewish explanation and I'm curious about why it is.

Also, who is the last prophet recognised by Jews?

Just out of curiousity. There is nothing evil about them in my opinion. I think that they are fun. I read them, and I am just good at reading people and they are general. I mean, a regular deck of playing cards comes from tarot cards. Do you consider them bad as well?

Someone asked this in answer to another question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060817065238AAYV6lm&r=w), and I thought it deserved its own thread.

My own answer to this is that he has proven it. He has proven himself to countless millions of people throughout centuries of human history. But some will insist that he must prove himself a certain way, for example, with miraculous signs and wonders. We forget that God 'answers' to no one...unless he wants to. And he will reveal himself to those who are able to approach him with genuine humility.

How about you? What do you think?
