Just out of curiousity. There is nothing evil about them in my opinion. I think that they are fun. I read them, and I am just good at reading people and they are general. I mean, a regular deck of playing cards comes from tarot cards. Do you consider them bad as well?

Misconception is that tarot cards only tell of the future. Yes, there are spreads that do that. But there are spreads that will discuss a current issue that you are going through. O, I am not a Christian. Please do not tell me to find God. I was just curious as to why Christians and others find them evil.

Morons, er, I mean, Christians, consider them evil because they believe that anything that is not of God is of the Devil, and they believe that tarot cards hold some magical power or some mumbo jumbo like that, and fail to see that tarot cards are just a form of assisted cold reading.

hi im brian (mournyngwolf) and i am a certified tarot master with the canadian tarot network. i have been reading tarot for about 17 years now. and i love them too. what i tell people about future readings is that we have infinite choice to make now tarot only provides clues to the patterns in choices we make now. if you dont like a future the tarot has brought to you, you can choose now to change it by changing the pattern of your life a bit. but mostly i stick to a spread that i designed based on the 12 houses of astrology that incorperates a persons left and right half of the brain. its a wonderful spread that like the birth chart it copies does well to discuss a persons personality not the future. as to the connection to the devil, well because of qabalah (or kabbalah as most know it now) tarot are a key to the most powerful human programming system ever concieved and when a person opens that power they see that these religions are bogus. so to protect their religions they tell everyone they will go to hell for even looking at them. thats why the fear of the devil is associated. the age old boogeyman (satan) is gonna get you! well its nice some of us grow up past this fear and learn for ourselves! blessed be and i hope i helped

Tarot card were invented in Europe as ordinary playing cards, so if you just would play poker I wouldn't think it was anything to fret about.
What for Christians is problematic is that it is our faith that only God has full knowledge of the future, and sometimes you and I can make highly probable predictions as can also the demons (and angels) but more accurately than any human since they are much more intelligent.
So trying to read the future is seen as asking the evil spirits about it. therefore it's bad and a sin against the 1st commandment. the christian way is to pray.

Take care.

Tarot cards is divination, which is witchcraft. It is trying to get answers to life's questions apart from the Bible. Tarot cards and the like will attract evil spirits to you. I suggest that you avoid them and like methods of divination all together. What you may consider as harmless fun the devil considers serious business. Be on guard for anything that takes you away from God and his word. Jesus loves you.

<... I know that what most people fail to realize is that a lot of the picture cards of the Major Arcana are directly from the Bible. For example, The Tower Card represents the Tower of Babel when everyone was speaking in different tongues and in a state of confusion. Also from the Bible is The Judgment Card, which represents Judgment Day and the Archangel Gabriel. We also have The Temperance Card, which represents the Archangel Raphael and looking at the cup that's half full, not always the one that is half empty.>

Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deu 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
I would repent and ask Jesus into my life if i was you. Your future is not looking too bright without Him.

There is nothing in the scriptures that would allow use of tarrot cards

There are however many places warning about diviining, or use of special omens outside of the council of God

case in point... once there was a guy who was looking for treasure using divining stones which the Bible forbids... next thing he is sucked into some vision of tablets from a spirit posing as an angel.. and the mormon church is born... but since he was using a means forbidden by the Bible one should have a heathy skeptiism one might be misled by spirits

Hey Marlee,
No, I don't think that cartomancy is bad. There is an average of 90% of the the human brain that we do not usually access (the subconscious), and I feel that these methods to look "beyond" are really removing the filters of our normal consciousness, so that we can learn more about our Self/Soul. Those that find these to be evil seem to be afraid of the unknown, and unwilling to leave a well-worn path of dogma and certainty. I read palms, cards and runes, and have been hired as entertainment for many types of events (wedding receptions, barmitzvahs, prom lock-ins, birthdays, etc.) and many persons are less hesitant to "see what it is like" in such an environment, and I have heard over and over, "How did you know this?" But in the end, their fears are shown to be unfounded, and a new understanding and openness to mystery is gained. I could lecture for hours on the subject and my experiences and studies...

We discussed this last night at Church. The Bible says "any sorcery, fortune telling, astrology, things of that nature are detested by God" I believe this is because you assume to know what only God knows. Everyone else is just guessing which is an insult to God to think you are on his level and know what only he knows. Anything that is not of God (The Light) is against God (the darkness) The dark side of things such as tarot cards, horoscopes, fortune telling is of the dark side. I would not get involved with these things, even just for fun, you are dabbling in something that is dark (not of God). The devil already trys to get to us, why invite him into your life.
