if the universe were actually billions of years old, like it is, then that means that humans aren't all that important in the grand scheme of things?

Since the cosmos has existed for so long without humans, then the earth and the human race are pretty much meaningless when compared to everything else. The entire history of the human race isn't even a mote of dust. We are insignificant.

Since religious people thrive on their egomaniacal interpretations of existence, does this mean that the only idea they will accept is a young earth? A young earth would make humans (and their religions) appear much more important than they actually are.

Of course, there is that whole 'everything in the bible is true' nonsense as well.

This culture does have mixed messages. I understand men and women are equal as people (human beings) and I would never say a one should walk behind the other , but we are very different . If your different, your not 100% equal. As far as employment, standards have been lowered for women with many physically demanding jobs, but its very wrong to not pay a woman the same money for the same job. This stuff trickles into societal issues though because men get a confusing message when they are still expected(with some exceptions) to treat a woman DIFFERENTLY. Theres that word again, different. How do you women (and men) feel about this? Is equality just the pay, or is there more to it?

there was a previous question stating something to this affect ..... come on, there is no logic to that, how in the world could a world just happen to make a war happen exactly like the Bible said it would happen. How could specific details be acted on and actually turn out right. What are the odds? The odds of any Governing body being able to pull off something like that is crazy. It would be impossible. The fact is that it was prophecized and happen because there is God who know everything past, present and future!!

I hate my life and i wish i was aborted when my mom had the chance, and dont give me bullshit of what if i was in a loving family,thats bullshit theres very little chance that would have happened i lived in a half-ased foster home with half ased perants. And dont give me bullshit about an aborted child finding cures int he future or what not ,what about the more than 90,000,000 WANTED children who live in the U.S. dont they have a better chance to find a cure for cancer than the few unwanted children,unwanted children have better chance that they will become crminals or dictator or a drug dealer. its dangerously optomistic to think that the majority of unwanted children will be left in a loving family, the reality the real reality is the majority dont go to loving homes espicially since you dont want gays to adopt kids, i swear to god one of these days im going to lose it and go to one of those anti-abortionist groups and make them pay for the suffering that they have caused me.
