I grew up with the belief that wearing sterling silver chains, bracelets and/or rings would protect you from accidents or bad luck. Has anyone else heard this and where did this idea come from?

A lot of self-righteous people talk about forgiveness and mistakes. Like in the question about nursing pedophiles and murderers.

But just once I'd like to hear from someone who has had a child raped and murdered and hear how they forgave. If they ever could.

Theory is all very well but even Yoko Ono admitted that she felt differently about the prisoners in the prison where Mark Chapman (Lennon's killer) is now. Her and John used to campaign for the prisoners but now she's a victim, things have changed.

how many of you would work for 8-10 hrs a day in the heat, rain, and any where for about 5 bucks an hr?would you dig ditches for that amt?
yes they are illegal but they do jobs we as white people are too proud to do,, personally i'd rather hire someone to do my heavy work outside and feed them lunch than get out there and do it myself somedays...

is religion antiquated, outmoded, obsolete? This is the modern age, knowledge is attainable at a press of buttons. But why hasn't man been successful in the social norms and man made laws he devised, developed and corrupted for his own ultimate goals? Society without religion is more chaotic than those who have religious practices. Wars? Even without religion, man has been in conflict against each other, preferring to promote his own man made laws. If there is no standardization, there will be always chaos. The non religion practicing heads of clans, tribes, societies wage war, then they manipulate religious groups to fight for them then call it a religious war.How ironic?
Even if a religion is not perfect, it still have a beneficial effect to mankind. A firm law and guidance that don't change for reasons man wish to alter for his indulgence.
As one saying goes,"Even if there is no God, man have to invent one."

iam basically a heavy money spender. the reason iam is that when i buy a product, i always feel that putting in more money gives a difference in quality, and putting in less money will not give a good quality. is my point right? i always go for expensive ones evrywhere..

I saw a magazine spread with brave women who came on and ADMITTED they regretted having kids. Shame for the kids but let's not pretend this doesn't happen. Else why are there so many kids in care and up for adoption And that's the ones who WERE born......

I find it amazing how many persons on this website claiming to be Christian are so offended by others who try to talk to them about the bible. I know it is not all of you, and I am not speaking to everyone on here. I see so many comments from people who claim to believe in the bible and in Jesus, saying that the preaching that Jesus commanded his followers to do is offensive to them. How can you claim to believe in Jesus yet be offended by the preaching work that he commanded his disciples to do? Does it offend you when you read about the preaching Jesus did? If you are a Christian, isn't the preaching work something you yourself should be doing? (see Matthew 28:19, 20 and 1 Corinthians 9:16) We go out of our way to bring people in the world a message of hope and peace in world filled with hate, death, and darkness. We take time out of our personal lives, out of our own expenses, to try to help others, and somehow all you can do is be irritated?

I am a Christian but I HATE other christians who use our religion as an excuse to spew hate at people who are different than us. I also REALLY hate christians who use god to make people feel guilty about stuff like abortion.......Are there ANY others who feel like me about other christians??
