How come Mexicans and new immigrants to the states dont assimilate like all of the immigrants in the last 230 years. I mean, all I really would like is if they would learn English, come on, we are an English speaking Country, how can u expect to get by not learning english. My great Grandmother had to learn english, all my realitives learned English. so whats the problem, you can still keep your heritage, just learn the language of the land!

Today was grandma-in-law's ex-husband's funeral. This was her 3rd ex, & they were divorced 2 years before I met, Nick
Nick worked for him still, & he was a great guy. We rented our 1st apt from him and his new wife (whom is also a very nice).
W went to his funeral, as did my MIL & SIL (both didn't like him, & probably only went thinking they'd be in the will), & my GIL (who went to say her goodbyes).
We stayed for the hour service, then left after that, but said our condolences to Carly, his widow. She was obviously upset, what with it being her husbands funeral, but she smiled when she saw me & my husband, & we gave her a hug each, & said how sorry we were.
When we left, however, his neice followed us out, & started screaming in the parkinglot at my husbands grandma about how innappropriate it was for us to be there, & it was a knife in the back to the whole family.
Should we not have gone?

There is a lot of hostility on this portion of the site. Mostly Christians vs. Non-Christians. Which to me is completely understandable b/c the Bible says that we will be persecuted and blessed for suffering if it is for doing good (like preaching the gospel) BUT not if we suffer for doing bad (like calling names). the Bible wants us to be like Christ and if you can't picture him saying what you're typing to someone here, then don't do it.
To the Non-Christians, I don't expect you to be nice to me because of this, but a lot of you seem to have been hurt or frustrated or confused by well-meaning Christians (my brothers and sisters) and I just wanted to apologize. I'm sorry.

a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

One white cop said on TV " The crazier the crime, the more likely it is that the perpetrator is white."

Look around you -- serial killers, child killers, parent killers, school-yard mass muderers, workplace gunmen, etc. etc., are almost all white. WHY?

Even child molesters are mostly white. And so are the blond female "student lover" who get pregnant by their students.

Yet, this is a big taboo that no "scientists" are investigating; no special TV shows talk about; no law is pass to protect the rest of us from crazy white people; no profiling is done against this type of white people.

Imaging that these were people of another race! WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!?!?

There are 3 earth ages (II Pet.3:5-7), same earth but different ages. We are now in the 2nd earth age. Between Gen.1:1 and Gen.1:2 is a vast amount of time, if time existed. Between these 2 verses is Satan’s rebellion (Rev.12:3-4) and “his tail” drew 1/3 of God’s children. Between these 2 verses also belongs all fossils and remains, such as Dinosaurs.

In Gen.1:2 we have the of the end of the 1st earth age and the beginning of the 2nd. For clarity Gen.1:2 needs to be divided (see below).

(A) Gen.1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

(B) Gen.1:2 And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

In (A) Gen.1:2 the first occurrence of the word “was” has been corrupted and is “became”. It reads “And the earth became without form, and void”. The end of the 1st earth age.

In (B) Gen.1:2 we have the beginning of 2nd earth age, the one we live in now. Man did not exist in flesh till this earth age.

Between (A & B) Gen

I think a clown Bible would be happy! Like Happy Pantz!

And there definitely needed to be more cheese in the Bible.

Would that mean people who are lactose intolerant couldn't read the Bible?

Nevermind, then. I'm sorry about the cheese.

Why would men support a movement that is based on hate against men? Feminism is MISANDRIST! Misandry means hate against men.

Answer: it is because those men are very INSECURE. By supporting feminism they think they are able to show they are not insecure, but in fact they are proving they are insecure because they need to support a hate movement (feminism) that thrives on hate at their expense.

I ask this due to the range of responses to one of my questions:

What date/year does the Bible give for the Exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt and which Egyptian pharaoh was in power when it occurred?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Asx2YkhoTXyaJkSDlAViSLPsy6IX?qid=20060727123720AAUQNzH

And to this other poster's question:

When was Abraham (a.s) lived?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjfkLCW0pz6pOGYNz7UwuKzzy6IX?qid=20060727155031AAjtfvt

and, though to a lesser degree, to another one of my questions

How did certain people mentioned in the Old Testament live to be so old ...?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvNCMONdsdErAgVkRpIuc0vsy6IX?qid=20060724101023AAhrSkT

If the Bible is, as some claim, "historically accurate," then why such inconsistency with the dates of particular events and when certain individuals lived?

Why do you think some people are always making fun of religions on yahoo answers? Is it because they are unsure about whats true or not? And they are trying so hard to convince themselves there is no such thing? Or are they just trying to pick fights? Because it seems like a lot of people have a problem with religions. And if you are one of those, then that's fine. No human being can make you believe in a certain religion. But why do some of you have to put everyone else down? If you think that religious people are living a lie and might as well be following dirt instead of a God, why don't you just leave them alone and worry about your own problems. I think that you all are just bored and trying to achieve the satisfaction that you made someone mad or have second thoughts.

I was in Italy, and i bought a new ball cap. I was bending the brim of my hat, because thats what my dad tought me to do. It fits better to your face that way. Someone from England saw me, and said that she had seen other americans do that. She said no one in england ever did that. I was just wondering if anyone else does that. In the US or not.

I have heard that there is a correct way to pray. I always pray while I'm driving or when I'm laying in bed at night and something is on my mind. If I am not praying correctly, does this mean for years my prayers aren't being heard?
