I mean, just to get a job that I am perfectly qualified for, I must know a language that is not my own. The ads always say must be bilingual. What they really mean is you must speak spanish and english, because if I speak english and chinese, I am still not going to get the job. So, my other question is, why don't hispanics learn english like all of the other immigrants from other countries. My mother in law is filipino and she had to learn english just to survive here. Whats up with that?

Should a person be blamed for not having strong religious beliefs if they were never taught such things as a child?

Many people are baptised as babies, but that's as far as their religious journey takes them (like your's truly).

I understand, that as an adult I am responsible for myself now and could easily educate myself. But I've embraced the "scientific" culture, I suppose.

I was just wondering what you think.

Cheers!

I thought that what happens is gods will, so if you get hit by a train etc its ok because you have gone on to a better place and it was for a reason, so by praying for the afore mentioned are we asking god to do our will? for example obviously no one wants one of our soldiers to be killed overseas or anywhere else for that matter; but when we pray for thier safe return are we asking that god favor them over another man and that man be killed instead? and further more isn't the whole thing ok anywhich way because the deceased will go on to heaven given they had faith? just curious.

Have you noticed how primitive and uncivilized mankind is? Why cant we as a human race change? Violence, greed and selfishness seem to have a grasp on our minds and characters. People are programmed to always put themselves first disregarding their neighboor. Our lusts and ambitions are never fullfilled, we always want more. When will we wake up and realize that we have been wrongly influenced by a society that seems to have no future. We are in a constant search for all the comforts that life has to offer, all while people are starving to death and the planet is being destroyed. Can we change Humanity around?

I mean real conservatives? Not people blinded by a Republican party line, but people who believe:
-It's fine for Israel to defend themselves.
-We have to stop terrorism, and groups like Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah don't want to talk to us, they want to kill us.
-Spanking your kid is okay, if you do it when appropriate.
-Illegals have to stop coming into this country, and we have to stop them, because it puts all of us at risk.
-Government spending is out of control, and neither Repubs nor Dems seem too concerned about it.
-Anyone who can lawfully fill a petition as required should be able to run for President, and current election laws prevent that from happening.
-The Constitution is the basis of this country's founding, and it must be adhered to.
-The vast majority of the US founders were Christians, and the basic principles this country was founded on are derived from The Bible and the Magna Carta.

Is there anyone here who agrees with all these things listed above?

I love it when God believers try to push their belief on me. That gives me a chance to convert them. They're most likely to lose faith in their own belief if they try to convert me.

you had thee diahariea and clogged the toilet. And when you flushed the water came to thee top of the toilet and stayed there with all of your droppings. And the worst part was, there were people waiting in line to use that stall. What did you do or say to them when you opened the door?

It seems like commercials are becoming more geared to the intellectually challanged. Why don't they have a disclaimer at the begining of the commercial that reads something like...."OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SO STUPID THEY WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING...SO HERE IT GOES......."

I hear/read so many Christians going on and on about how "Religion means being inslaved" and that they arn't Religious at all. Instead they say that they are spiritual or they make a strange distinction between having a Religion and having a "Relationship with Jesus Christ".

None of this stuff makes any sense if you look at the definition of Religion and of Religious:

re·li·gion Pronunciation (r-ljn)
n.
1.
a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
b. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.

re·li·gious Pronunciation (r-ljs)
adj.
1. Having or showing belief in and reverence for God or a deity.

Question:
1) Where did this distinction come from?
2) Are they trying to change the definition of Religion?
3) How can you look at the above definitions and say that doesn't describe Christianity?

This is an example of God believers view on the world

How did we get here? God must have did it
How did the sky get here? God must have did it
How did the earth get here? God must have did it
Why am I breathing? God must have did it

The difference between God believers and Atheists is God believers are looking for a comfortable, simple answer

Us Atheist will wait until we find an answer that's for sure the truth. We'll accept not knowing before we take any fairy tale and run with it

I am soooooo sick of hearing this question. As if marriage is the be all and end all. Getting married is the simple part. Finding a a life mate you adore is the hard part. No matter how many times I explain this to my Italian relatives they think I have something wrong with me i.e. loser. How do I shut them up once and for all repectfully of course?

I find the answers more interesting and meaningful when people have some form of visual representation. Otherwise, it appears they are lurking or hiding. An Avatar seems safe enough to display if a photo is not desired. Does anyone feel the same way?
