Hang ups come in all shapes, sizes, colour and shade. The most important thing is to love yourself, everything else is secondary.

The light skin-dark skin divide carried over well into the 20th century. There is a church not far from my home that would not allow members if they couldn't pass the 'paperbag test' or if their hair was too curly. Just one example of the injustice we perpetuated against one another until just recently.
When companies started hireing blacks they tended to hire lighter skin blacks for certain positions, which of course built resentment amongst darker blacks who may have been just as qualified for the jobs.
It's easy to say get over it but the effects of 300 years of oppression and divide and rule techniques are not going to disappear overnight.

light skined blacks have white blood in them and so the dark skined blacks don't want antthing to do with them or very little to do with them. It'sall about how you look at things and your believes.

yeah I don't get that? I had some lady look at my 3month old like he had the plague (he's light skinned) as she proceeded to feed her baby????? people! grrrr sorry just venting!

That's ridiculous!
Riki Lake heard one black person call another black person "high yellow" and she ran with it.
Lots of whites latch onto this idea. It helps slake their guilt if they can say "look they're racist too.
