Should a person be blamed for not having strong religious beliefs if they were never taught such things as a child?

Many people are baptised as babies, but that's as far as their religious journey takes them (like your's truly).

I understand, that as an adult I am responsible for myself now and could easily educate myself. But I've embraced the "scientific" culture, I suppose.

I was just wondering what you think.

Cheers!

basically, you believe whatever you believe and that is your religion. listen to other peoples beliefs and base your opinions off of that. it is silly to completely buy into whatever one person or a group of people tell you. I was raised a Lutheran, I still consider myself a christian, but I have all kinds of beliefs, opinions and ideas that don't exactly go with what I have been taught. it doesnt matter at least I know I am thinking for myself

No, I don't think a person should be blamed for not having strong religious beliefs. My mother is a minister and I was raised in church. My husband on the other hand rarely went as a child. I do think you should ck out more traditional churches, and not just rely on the scientific culture. I believe it would help you. Good Luck

It doesnt really matter what you think, i believe, as long as you find some amount of truth and solace in it.

Myself, I was brought up very catholic, and through my own interest in science I became distant from religion because it made more sense to me.

You cant blame the child though.. they can only learn what their parents taught them, for the most part. certainly children arent eager to go out and learn moral scruples on their own!

It's easier than actually believing the blame Oh and I agree with Haddock The Spaniard is usually the fault of all things gone wrong

It is for every person to find out for him/herself.
And being religious is no use.
You have to be BORN-AGAIN
born by the SPIRIT of God.
Go to a Pentecostal church.
and dont blame your parents.

I belong to a "scientific culture" too.
but I take it with a pinch of salt.
because science as we know is primitive.
And science is not a fit enough discipline to understand the spiritual.

There is no blame as you call it . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved . You should want to do this for God . I don't think baptism works like that . You have to make the decision for yourself when you are old enough to understand . John 14:6 God be with you and bless you .

Maybe others in that religion will blame you, but No, its not right.

How can you, as an adult, able to use your own mind, make your own educated desicions be blames for straying from, or changing ideals and faith, because you used your own mind to do it with?

I know people will, but they shouldnt, and you have to be responsible for yourself, they are not responsible for you any longer.

first let me say, thank you for answering my question. second, your b/f is a very lucky man. third, only religious fanatics find fault in any and all who do not believe as they do. a truly enlightened person accepts those who do not believe as they do. fourth, only someone without something real to say will attack your grammar and or spelling.

No, because I think upbringing has little to do with it. I was raised Methodist and now I'm agnostic. I don't know why people care what religion you or myself are. It's not any of their business, imo.
