I have been researching self-help groups and find a common psychological profile with Alcoholic Anonymous members. Among the many characteristics that I have discovered is a strong desire to seek assistance outside their bodies (brain) with their addiction to alcohol. Most will speak of a god or a spirit that is responsible for their "recovery" form drugs like alcohol. The use of self-will or using positive cognitive energy is discouraged. This finding of entities outside the body contradicts personal problem solving as I know it because to unlearn a behaviour (they say disease) one must go to the source of addictions which is in the body. I am puzzled, can anyone help me understand this AA process?

I don't care about political correctness or anything, but calling Native Americans Indians is just really wrong. I mean, even though real Indians shouldn't really have that name since that's a name of the Sindhi language that the British tried to enforce (Hindustani, etc., might be better names). You ought to call Native Americans that or perhaps even Red Indians, but I think the latter might be more or less derogatory since it refers to skin color. Still, they seem to be native to the area of America. Why continue to follow the mistakes of Western explorers like Christopher Columbus by using this thoroughly inappropriate misnomer? It doesn't make sense for legitimate people to do that. (By the way, for all my fans, I decided to minimize my "The hero strikes again!" end comments on all my posts)

is god all-loving? if he is truly all-loving, then he will love even the people who do not accept jesus into their lives, right? no good father who loves his children would ever let his children burn in hell for eternity just because they don't believe in him. so why does he allow these people to burn in hell??? is it because he isn't strong enough to save them????

is god all-powerful? if god is all-powerful, then he doesn't need to follow the laws of physics. he MAKES the laws of physics. so that must mean that if people are in fact going to hell, then he must WANT them to burn in hell. (otherwise, he would just rescue them.) so why does he allow people to burn in hell? is it because he doesn't love them?

PLEASE DON'T ANSWER WITH "it's just god's way". either he is not all-powerful, or he is not all-loving. end of story. i just demonstrated how it can't be both. so i'm asking you to tell me which one you think it is.

Are we that far apart that neither side wants to hear what the other side has to say. Both sides sometimes make good points but is always shined on by each other. We are allowed to have differences which is great There is always middle ground. Neither side is ever completely .right or wrong. Why cant we have open discussions without all of the accusations and attacks on each other. I am a raidcal that almost everybody hates and I see good and bad coming from both camps. Maybe the day will come when we can all listen to each other, openly discuss the issues the way we are supposed to.
