It hurts my ears and my body just to be near a car that has the bass like that. Is it really pleasurable?

I don't really have an answer to your question, but, if I had to venture a guess, I'd say those people are attention starved and insecure. It is very annoying to hear and feel someone else's music. I am especially annoyed by the people who have more invested in the "Noise Machine" than the care alone is worth and it sounds like the car is going to vibrate apart when the bass hits. Funny thing is, though, it is not nearly as loud (or at least as distorted) inside the car as it is outside most of the time.

People like to feel the throbbing bass line in their loins. Lord knows I can feel it, while sitting in the car next to them!

I don't think it could possibly be pleasurable, and it is causing permanent damage. It is annoying though when I have to roll up my windows due to some inconsiderate person beside me.
