Why do people blame Christains for what God says or for what's written in the Bible?

We didn't write the Bible or make the rules? So why get mad at us? If you don't like something, why not take it up with God?

Well, not to start an argument, but Christians most certainly did write the Bible. --What, did you think Japanese Bhuddists wrote it? Come on.

Nobody blames Christians for what God said because no one actually knows " WHAT " God did say. Nor do they blame Christians for what's in the Bible. They " DO " blame Christians for being so silly and foolish as to believe what's written in the Bible. Be it known: The Bible is full of inconsistencies and hypocrisy. You simply cannot be a rational, thinking human being and still believe the Bible is the Word of God.

It is your belief that God says that. That doesn't mean everyone has to comply simply because your belief states as such. As for blaming Christians for the Bible? I don't really see that happening. I see Christians getting blamed for things Christians have done. I don't need to take up with God what another person is doing.

if we tried to take it up with god we wouldnt get anywhere cos i dont belive in him cos when has he ever shown any real sign of exictance?

ive never blamed a christian for what is said in the bible but i do no theres a lot of contridiction in it and maybe that is why some people get pissed off with christians cos they think they must be wrong to follow it regardless.

and i would understand gay people not being too happy cos some christians think it is wrong all cos the bible says it is, well, i think it is wrong to judge someone on their sexuality. and it also makes god a hypocryte cos i thought it also says in the bible he loves all his children and will forgive all who sin? but being gay is hardly a sin.

if having my own mind and making my own judgments in life without having to follow any religion to help me means i will go to hell then so be it. and until anyone has any proof of any gods i wouldnt blame anyone else doing the same.

but surely christians dont belive everything that is said in the bible cos most of it sounds like storys that are told to children.

Because Christians take it upon themselves to interpret the Bible in ONE way and then shove it down other people's throats. I don't think that people are so much against what God has to say, I think they're against self-elected arbiters of divine will and intent. God doesn't say half of the negative things that Christians say, and well more than half of the negative things said in the bible aren't even about the things that Christians say that they're about. So what I take eception to is the fact that too many Christians are using to bible as a way to achieve sadistic spiritual laziness and they're condemning people to hell just becuse they refuse to be as spiritually lazy or cruel.

Oh, and according to the Bible, it's a sin to bear false witness, so my question is, Why are so many Christians bearing false witness against women, gays, lesbians, and Muslims?

Nobody's arguing against God...we're just arguing against those who bear false witness often by putting words into God's mouth.

because of how you interpret it. i take issue with the fact that you hate gays, for example, but you allow countless other things that are prohibited by the bible. if you truly believe the bible is the word of god, you must follow Every Single Passage. Whether or not you are intentionally using the bible to fuel your own hate or whether you just never stopped to consider it, its intellectually and morally lazy to "pick and choose" from a book you consider to be god's word.

In a sermon of October 1831, Episcopalian minister Bird Wilson said, "Among all of our Presidents, from Washington downward, not one was a professor of religion, at least not of more than Unitarianism." The Bible? Here is what our Founding Fathers wrote about Bible-based Christianity: Thomas Jefferson: I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Jefferson again: Christianity...(has become) the most perverted system that ever shone on man. ...Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and importers led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus. More Jefferson: The clergy converted the simple teachings of Jesus into an engine for enslaving mankind and adulterated by artificial constructions into a contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves...these clergy, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Christ. Jefferson's word for the Bible? Dunghill. John Adams: Where do we find a precept in the Bible for Creeds, Confessions, Doctrines and Oaths, and whole carloads of other trumpery that we find religion encumbered with in these days? Also Adams: The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. Adams signed the Treaty of Tripoli. Article 11 states: The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion. Here's Thomas Paine: I would not dare to so dishonor my Creator God by attaching His name to that book (the Bible). Among the most detestable villains in history, you could not find one worse than Moses. Here is an order, attributed to 'God' to butcher the boys, to massacre the mothers and to debauch and rape the daughters. I would not dare so dishonor my Creator's name by (attaching) it to this filthy book (the Bible). It is the duty of every true Deist to vindicate the moral justice of God against the evils of the Bible. Accustom a people to believe that priests and clergy can forgive sins...and you will have sins in abundance. The Christian church has set up a religion of pomp and revenue in pretended imitation of a person (Jesus) who lived a life of poverty. Finally let's hear from James Madison: What influence in fact have Christian ecclesiastical establishments had on civil society? In many instances they have been upholding the thrones of political tyranny. In no instance have they been seen as the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty have found in the clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy.
oh yeah and Abraham Lincoln: "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."

It's called ignorance of the unknown, and taking things out on the easiest target. Either way they will end up losing that one, as for God takes care of His children, and those that come against them will perish.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Because most Christians will say if we don't live by the Bible word for word, we'll all go to hell. Those Christians need to change thier beliefs and attitudes first, because they make the normal open minded ones look bad.

I used to be an Atheist when I was younger and I was angry at how Christians believed in a God. Now I'm a Christian and I want to tell everyone that there really is a God, and He created you and the rest of us.
