It's fear. Pure and simple. I try every day not to be these things but sometimes they still creep in my life no matter how hard I try. And what's the reason for feeling this way? It's always fear for me. Fear of what you don't know, something different, something new.

By the way, your avatar looks like Bono. Cool.

This is a fascinating question.

There have been many studies among wild chimpanzee colonies that suggest that aggression is part and parcel of being a hominid; chimpanzees have even been observed to mount what amounts to wars on their neighboring troops.

Perhaps it is simply our genetic nature that makes us so awful; maybe it's because there are too many of us, living in too close quarters. Whatever the reason, it's up to our superior brain power to find ways around it.

I live in me. I have to concern myself with living in me. I have to feed me, clothe me and shelter me. No one else cares. As I grew up I was told to get along with all the other "me's" out there. There are some people that can not get along. When you get older you may return to your former ways. There are two types of people those that are more and those that are less selfish. You can argue the pros and cons for each type forever. Basically when whole cultures arise that are composed of people that are so different from one another there can be no common ground. Common ground is more concrete and less abstract. You like to eat an apple. I like to eat an apple. We have common ground. You like this God. I like a different God. We will never have common ground. Persons of different races are thought of as a kind of different that brings about differences that can not be overcome because differences come from the biology of the different person. However I have found in life that people of all races have great commonality. We all need food, clothing and shelter. We all are born, live and die. We all bleed if we get cut. People tend to be happy when they are not afraid. People tend to surround themselves with other people that look and act similar to them for safety and security. Say like everyone in your tribe rubs mud on their faces. If you were to meet someone from another tribe that washes their faces as a custom it could be very frightening. You would want to shun them and fear them. At some point of over exposure this effect is lost. Example: American Blacks and Whites actually do positively effect each other. My sense of humor for example has been greatly enhanced by black people. That is why I say if aliens land on Earth they had better think again. It is they that should fear us.

We hate what we don't understand. We have a sinful nature that lures us into this type of behavior. Instead of taking the time to see that we are all deeply loved by our Creator, and as such, should love others with a genuine love for one another, we instead spew hatred.

I've been wondering the same thing lately. Especially after I've read some of the awful questions on this site. I guess we'll never truly know the answer to this question.

Because man wants to be special and by being special all other things have to be under you. Thus we differentiate ourselves from others and look at the differences in each other instead of the similarities.
