Right wingers are trying to force Americans to believe in *their* god, which isn't God.

Both political parties are quoting scripture and evoking the name of God to serve their own purposes. The truth is, God isn't Republican, Democrat or any sort of political affiliation. He is God, He loves all equally. One thing I am learning is that it is dangerous to put God in any type of "box" that might say He is for one side and not the other. That simply isn't true. There are those that believe that God blesses America over any other nation, that is not true either. Many times throughout history, other nations have been used to further God's plan. God is not an American, He is not affiliated with one political party, nor is He in anyway tied into anything other than the fact that He loves us all and desires that we come to a deeply personal relationship with Him.

No. It's not a Republican thing alone, after all, Catholics are a large part of the Democratic demographic. Due to media slant and spin, Republicans do come off as more strictly adherent to moral ideals and rules based in religion, just as Democrats are painted to be selfish, greedy pro-choicers. I don't think either side is what it is made out to be, and it takes insight and education to truly understand the depth of either party.

I actually don't think it's Republicans, per se...I think the Republican party was infected by satanists. Honestly, if I were Satan and I wanted to corrupt God's people, I'd do exactly what the Republicans are doing, but since I'm smarter than them, I'd be a little bit less obvious about it.

Yes, I do believe republicans are trying to force christian beliefs on Americans. That's why I stopped calling myself a republican and started calling myself a libertarian.

I dont think so. I think it is more that the vail of Christianity is supposed to make 1 believe that you are a person of God. But of course this is only determined by the way you live your life and your interactions with others.

No. They are just trying to allow those of us who believe in God to worship him in the way we wish. That may mean allowing a Teacher to have a Bible on their desk for them to read during any free time. Or allowing the teaching of Christianity when the school is mandating a study of Islam. Or maybe to allow a cross monument to remain standing that honored veterans and was erected 50 years ago and has the support of the MAJORITY of the citizens around it.

I don't know what country you live in, but nobody in this country is trying to force that.

However the Constitution defends the right of Americans to express their religion in public.

The following words are not in the first amendment:
church, state, separation.

There's a right-wing religious element that wants their brand of Christianity to become the state religion (though of course they'll never say so). They've hijacked the Republican party because they can deliver -- or threaten to withhold -- enough votes to swing elections.
