Why would they bother visiting without some reason, and if there is a reason to visit why pussy foot around?

Is someone (thing) bothering you? Or are you looking for crazy people's answers?
My grandmother was a spiritualist and said that spirits were either lost and re-living their experiences over and over...kind of like being trapped in a time loop. Some were here to contact you, but their ability to do so relied upon your ability to observe it. The reasons for the contact varied, warnings, comfort. Observation takes practice and patience. It helps if you have a spirit that you know well, as in a grandmother, or grandfather, so on, that you can make a contact deal with before they pass. It can also help you to recognize other entities trying to make contact. Is it true? I don't know, but she believed it completely. She insisted for many years that there was someone else living in her parlor at night. Years before she passed, I had asked her to blink a light when it finally had happened. When my mother called to tell me she had passed the night before, the only light on in my room, a closet bulb, with no covering, blinked off then on after I hung up the phone. Maybe she knew something. Lots of people she knew, said that she knew everything.
Demonics are another subject.

They might have a reason. I've never seen one myself, and I'm not sure if I believe in them, but I've heard stories that sound like they are the energy field of a terrible occurrance, or a being that has unfinished business or that is doing something it did in life, it just doesn't realize it's dead yet. I've heard stories about everything from a house in England no one will live in because people keep dying in the same room there, or a little boy in the South who plays tricks on the guests at an inn, or here about 5 miles from where I'm sitting, there is a railroad bridge supposedly haunted by a woman who was following the train tracks to take her baby to the doctor. She was thrown from the tracks by a train, and she supposedly haunts the bridge trying to find her baby.

There are only two kinds of spirits that inhabit the atmosphere of the earth. Angels (from God, holy angels who were created by Him and never rebelled, so they are good and are on His side), and fallen angels (demons), who did rebel against Him and were kicked out of Heaven.
If spirits are talking to you and moving things around, they are demons, and not to be trusted. They only have bad things planned for you.
Most people have the mistaken impression that "spirits" inhabiting the earth (and its atmosphere) are spirits of people that were once humans and lived on the earth, but that isn't so.
When humans die, they go to either Heaven or Hell, they are not walking (or flying) around on the earth. So no spirit you come in contact with was ever a human being. They were created by God as angels, and they are generally (if they are contacting you as 'spirits") they are fallen angels (demons), who are up to no good and want you to go to Hell (where they are condemned to go, after this world is over).

Let me tell you what a spirit is...It has passed through the tunnel and can come back and give messages.
A Ghost: does not know they are dead
An angel: is a direct report from God.
A spirit Guide: is someone who has died and decides to come back and protect a life... from Newborn until Death.

Spirits come to visit the loved ones they left behind. They also come to help us when we're in need. But there are some that are stuck in this relm as ghosts because they don't think they are dead.

Some are "stuck here" because they don't realize they're dead; Usually you have to tell them so they can "move on"; Others stay because they watch over you(for whatever reason-good or evil); and then you have the "entities"-that were never Earthbound to begin with and are just plain EVIL; That's where your demonologists/exorcists come in....

Spirits don't visit here. They get stuck here. That's why a lot them have evil tendancies.
