Psychology - March 2007

I work as a cashier at a natural foods store. Some people like me and some don't. Of course, that's normal and that could be said about just about everyone. However, not too long ago a couple came through my line. The husband was polite towards me, but I know that I overheard his wife say something negative about me and about my character. This woman doesn't even KNOW me, so how can she make assumptions about my character?

I sometimes wonder why does it hurt so much when someone criticize something you deeply believe in ..? For example, I can take as an example, people that believe in Islam , Mouhammad or Jesus or christianity or whatever the faith, they are unable to accept people doing criticize on their faith ...!! but, I really know what happened and what's going on, it's something going in their mind...a christian feels like his head is bumping or his brain is in pain when someones tries to prove something contrary to his belief ...and vice versa for Islam, and other faith people can believe in ... what is happening on a psychological point of view ...? For example, I notice that I cannot unbelieve in christianity to accept something else... why ..? do you think , this also has something to do with education ?

take for instance a person who does all his daily chores as a burden will not be fullfilled ,where as a person who does all his task on day to day basis with respect and gives his soul to his activity will attain fullfillment
do tell the world how you have experienced fullfillment in all your duties .

with my kids cos a couple next door have spread all sorts of lies to the council about us and they believe them and not me, they make out they are perfect but they do horrendous things. how come their is no justice, it all makes me feel sick why dont, people just leave us alone my friend says she feels sorry for me but i do not know what to do

Is it possible to just get a work assignment and get started without the neurotic game of "what's the deadline" and postponing until you have to start? Does school ruin people because it teaches us to play this game, instead of just shifting priorities (as needed) and then just starting in with good effort when we are handed a new task, rather than playing the time game, which is "Oh, I can postpone until I have to get going"? Does anyone know a way around the "time game" that procrastinators play?

a lady staying with a man who brutally beats her up(over little things) and after which sex her up pratically everyday . the sickening part was the woman treats the beating up as a foreplay and enjoys the sex part. despite feeling violated she just cant stop this stupid cycle..what advise can i give so that this woman stop behaving in a destructive way .. if the men is reported will dere be any case?

I can only remember getting mad three times in at least the past four or five years, so being angry is not something I'm used to. I'm part of a drama team, and in one of our skits I have found out that my girlfriend has given me AIDS and has been stealing from me and I'm supposed to blow up, get angry, and leave her. I need good, solid, valid reasons why it's a bad idea for my 19 yr old step-daughter to move in with her 24 yr old boyfriend. She's away at college and met this yahoo of a guy whom her mother and I really don't care for. I realize she's 19 and can make her own decisions, and I'll just have to live it, but please help me come up with some really good, decision swaying reasons why she should not do this. Also reasons why the 5 yr gap in their ages is not a good thing either. I'm really trying to help her from making really stupid life mistakes, and I really need some ammo to drive the point home. I have my reasons, but they don't seem to hold any weight.
