I mean as opposed to warm and emotional? It's probably a horrible thing to say but I find emotions get in the way of trying to live and work. I'd rather just be able to work all the time and not care about anything...

Is this possible?

i'm doing an analogy of the brain as a rock concert, where cerebral cortex is the band, the frontal lobe is the lead singer, the occipital lobe is the drums, the temportal lobe is the bass guitar, parietal lobe is electric guitar, hippocampus is audience, cerebellum is lights, and so on... However, I couldn't think of a title that is creative. I thought of just putting "Brain as a Rock Concert" and my friend thought "The Brain is Rock and Rollin' " haha. Any ideas?

I would think that a serious person might benefit from listening to comedians, reading funny books?

How else can a serious person learn to let go and be light-hearted about life and not take life so seriously?

I was caught up in the Thailand tsunami December 2004. I'm still too scared to go back to Thailand though I know some people who go back each year. They say it helps. How can I move on? Am I being pathetic as I was one of the lucky ones?

When someone says "I'm sorry" to you, what is a typical reply? What is a reply to a minor offense, mediocre offense, and major offense? Do you say "It's okay" for a major offense? Do you say "Forget about it"? I'm looking for standard approaches to the phrase "I'm sorry."

I am trying to develop a character i am portraying in an upcoming production of a drama production which will be assessed.
My character's name is David who works in a dead-end job, who is essentially a social outcast/reject, whatever you wish to call it. He takes comfort in sleeping with a worker-girl.
To amplify my portrayal i am trying to get to grips with what it feels like to be a social outcast and what being a social outcast can do to you. I would be very grateful if you could provide any useful information or guidance which could aid me.
What feelings are felt?
What makes someone feel like a social reject?
etc
Thankyou very much for your time

My dad said this to me today and was wondering if you agree.
He said " Don't tell your frineds everything about yourself especially the bad as they will use it like ammo to fire at you when they feel like it!"
Is he being paranoid or is there some sense there?

ive had a very low self esteem for a long time, im 29 and battle through phsychological, psychiatric problems which ive had for a long time, since 15. i dont have any friends mainly because of these problems, i struggle to make friends, because i have such low self esteem. i live in a small flat on my own, battling through my problems. loneliness and isolation play a big role in my life...i wanna no how i can feel my worth? my self worth? feeling as though im just as good as other people? i always put everybody on pedastools, like everyones better than, and im not worthy of them, or friends, or a life, or a girlfriend to love...i think im the only one struggling and have been through a horrendous time and everyone else hasnt had the struggles ive had or hasnt been bullied or victimised in their life..so therefore this makes them better than iam.im scared to chat to the few girl contacts ive made on msn sometimes because i dont feel my worth, or that im good enough & have nothing to say

Have you ever heard of people that are so scared of failure that they just quit on things (career) they actually have a passion and are good at to pursue something they never really had a interest in? Do they do this so if they fail in something they don't really like it won't be as dissappointing if they were to fail in something they really have a passion for?

First off, if you're gong to be immature and put me down then just don't say anything. I feel like i could cry and break down! over stupid things. I'm not saying everyone does it but alot of people do and won't admit it. Sure, i pick my nose and put it places, i scratch my butt and sometimes get a little stain. I never knew you were supposed to wash your butt til i was 16-17 but it wasn't that bad because i'm not a nasty person. When i was younger, after going to the bathroom i didn't wipe myself at all but kids go through that and i obviously do now. When i was like 14-15 i scratched my head and i had dandruff and i liked doing it and i would put it in like a little pile lol. I am not a nasty person. Dandruff is easy to get. I pick at things on my face or whatever. I used to not brush my teeth good and not every day which kids and teens tend to do that i guess. but i want to change that now. Sometimes i find things to pick. Is all this normal? I feel like i have to tell every guy i am with because i keep obsessing over if they knew then they wouldn't want to be with me.

I've had it all my life. It comes and it goes. It isn't even sadness. Just a locked-down, crippling darkness. I wonder how I can kick it besides medication. It only lasts a couple of weeks at a time. It is such a pain!

Does anyone else experience this? Geeez!
