Well, answering from the point of view of a Clinical Hypnotherapist - yes and no. No, you can't be truly hypnotized on your own with out some external driving factor (a hypnotist, a tape, etc) because true hypnosis requires that some one else does the "driving" - otherwise it's simple mediation, which ain't all that bad.
Now, the yes part is using a tape or CD (or on mP3 like I make) that directs you into hypnosis...you can make your own (there are tons of resources available - if you need help, let me know) using your own voice and make it as personal as possible. However, this doesn't always "work" because in many instances the individual has self -esteem issues and they don't have the belief in themselves - so when they hear themselves, they don't go into hypnosis.

what you ask is impossible. How can you do that? Good grades are the result of studying and reading the materials. Obviously you are attempting to gain all the benefits without doing any of the work. It is a failing equation. You need to take the time to do the homework, take notes in class, go over them again before you sleep, study in groups, or with friends. Ask questions in class if you do not understand something. Have a private meeting with your teacher on what you are not getting. By writing questions like this, by texting your friends, by playing games with your video game or computer you are not, I repeat NOT studying. There are no shortcuts to college. The habits you develop now will folow you through life. Other kids are doing what they need to get 3.5-4.0 and they will be the ones admitted to colleges, not a 2.0 student that tries to hypnotize themselves into college. Do the work, don't be lazy...you are only hurting yourself.

Even if it was possible to hypnotise yourself, how would you manage to end the hypnotic state that you got yourself into? Set an alarm clock...?

I highly doubt it cuz in order to be hypnotized, your mind has to be completely devoid of thoughts. So if you're trying to hypnotize urself, your mind would be so busy trying to make u hypnotize urself that you would be too distracted.

I bought one of those self hypnosis books. I tried it over and over. It was a complete wast of my time and money. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
