Maslow described peak experiences as self-validating, self-justifying moments with their own intrinsic value; never negative, unpleasant or evil; disoriented in time and space; and accompanied by a loss of fear, anxiety, doubts, and inhibitions.

I am not sure that i have ever had such an experience, i think that possibly the birth of my children could have been such a moment, and i suspect that my wife would probably be more likely to have had this feeling during the birth itself....

but i believe that these peak experiences are not something that you would be able to recognize as it occurs, it may take some reflection to determine whether you indeed had this experience.

Interesting question though.

This may sound silly or even really stupid, but I once thought I was a chaos god called Heccshir and that I was causing hurricanes. The self-perceived "power" made me crazy with joy at the awesome destruction could bring about. At one point I even thought I could fly.
Then my therapist put me on anti-psychotics and my brain was numb of any such creative thought for several months until I decided to stop taking them.

I have had "Peak Experiences",.. and I have gone way beyond that into the realm of the potential that is available to a human being in terms of consciousness itself. .... In my opinion,.. what are commonly referred to as peak experiences are really a small moment of experiencing a glimmer of ones potential in terms of the expansion of consciousness,... (although I ;also do believe that that potential is virtually unlimited).

If you consider the likes of what is characteristic of extreme cases of "mania",.. in regards to what is termed manic depression,... you can get another view of some of the potential of human consciousness in terms of available energy and creative potential.

In my opinion,.. such experiences as are characteristic of peak experiences and the likes of mania,... are a product of the natural evolution of consciousness itself. .... I believe that what one is seeing in those instances,.. is something akin to small breakthroughs if you will,.. of consciousness into that 'potential' which is still gestating in a sense within the deeper realms of consciousness itself.
