Psychology - January 2007

Should people with learning disabilities that offend be processed by the Criminal Justice System and held responsible for their actions, or can they not be held accountable for their actions and any aberrant behaviour should be dealt with by health care professionals and not the Criminal Justice System?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated as this is forming part of a debate on my university course.

People don't mind other people making decisions for themselves, what to wear, whats in fashion, what to watch, what weight you should be,etc. If we don'tdo it right we always blame someone else. If we're confused we see shrinks. Isn't it about time you started taking control of your own life? Tell me your opinions I'd like to get some insight as to why people think and act this way.

ive known this girl for about a year and a bit on the net, i grew really close to her, and it has just fizzled out, i thought she liked me from what she used to say to..i had a few arguments with her though because of my possessivness, and im sorry for that, i used to sulk to her and threaten to end it and shed always come back to me. well now its like shes not bothered and the other day she came online and said, i take it that its over then..and i said guess so, shes 20 and from canada, im 29 from the uk..im findin it hard to let go i really liked her, she even has the physicall features i like, pale, white and chubby with cute face, a while ago she even said she was going to come to uk to see me..now it seems all thats out the window, were from two total different worlds she has friends, a life job, lots of guy friends to cos i seen em on myspace..and im here lonely with no friends strugglin with psychological problems, but she dont no that much, im really finding it hard to let go

a man friend has this mindset that being raped or not the stimulation is there and that they do have orgasms.I say NO, a woman is able to turn her mind off trumatic experiences and NO being forced to do something you don,t want does not turn into an enjoy able thing. I don,t care how much stimulation there is. he's being very stuborn about this so I need all the help I can get.Help me explain this to him, please.

Ok, you know those signs saying "Our staff have the right to work in a safe environment, anyone abusing or threatening employees will not be served" and similar?

Ever notice you only find them in places where you're likely to get wound up by long waits, poor service and rude staff? Sometimes all three?

What do you think? Seen these signs anywhere that's an exception to this?

My Boyfriend is abusive to me he has ahistory of unemployment, he is controlling, he beats me physically & emotionally. he makes me feel bad about myself, he has forced sex on me, he as been charged with rape before but was found not guilty. He is so agressive yet he claims he loves me, he has days where he is just flat out mean & rude anything triggers him if I dont move fast enough he will bend my fingers. he never gotten me any gifts he has a lot of negative comments ( then he says he is just joking) about me...last night I got it really bad over nothing in my opinion, he overreacted as usual, noe he says we can go to counceling he wants to work it out. What type of counseling does he need? How can he change? he says he feels bad about beating me because it was not right. How can a person change how can I help him become a better person?

i am deaf and dumb about 25 years old. i feel nothing to hear loud and noise. and i also do not understand what people speak that is like image what i can speak.

which cause deaf and dumb? it is like not connected between telephone and electricity.it is nothing like my deaf has no connected between both my mouth and ear and my brain (nerve is not connected).

i want to understand why do i get deaf and dumb? if i can speak and hear i like talking with people.i just use sign language forever i have 10 multiple sign languages.

It really freaks me out! Sometimes they are people I have known sometimes they are not. But the ways that they come to me are unbelievebly scary! They are so much like horror movies! Dead people are one of my biggest fears, so this could have some influence. But I don't think about them 24/7, so I don't know why this keeps happening! Any Ideas as to why?

I am computer programmer and hanged on single project for about 8 months. i wan't be able to promote to take the position of my manager who leave the company because of this project. this project was never done before in the company and no one can continue the job i am doing. so they are so dependant on me. the manager replaced is fully incompetent and to me will cause the company to be ended up to closure. i brought this manager to company actually he was living in my neighbore they never even taken my idea into consideration before completion of the project.my tought always fluctuate. and i cannot concentrate well. is it my problem or it is the problem of company?

it was a snowy and sad day, i was back home from the school at 8 pm of night. then there was just me in the street and three other boys. then one that boys fall all the snow on tree on me. and all of them start laugh at me. i couldnt protect myslef from them. they was tree boys biger than me and i was just a girl alone in the street. so i take silence. i felt that i am very weak. i go to my rome and start to cry all the night. so antry with myslef because i wasnt able to protect myself and angry with god because he didnt gave me power to protect myslef.

i slept when my eyes was full of pain, then i saw a dream. in the dream i saw that a man who was driving a car and i was sit down near him. he was so sad he asked me, why u dont trust me?
what does the dream mean?

i had awoken and heard my mom,dad,sis and neice praying to a 4ft statue of V.mary that was standing on a table but she had turned and gave them her back and they still continued to pray .my sister looked at me and said this happens in this house and not to be scared. i had left that room (whihc no room had furniture)and went into another where crosses on the wall turned themselves upside down. in the middle of the room was my sis's b-friend who was standing in the middle of that room and dr. suess books were being flung at him and were hitting hime in the bridge of the nose over and over again and he was bleeding everywhere. it was very erie. i was just wondering if anyone was into deciphering dreams that could help me. we r not a religious family ,my sis is having money prob with her bf getting a job as for me who had the dream my bf's boss got murdered and now we r having $ probs i am pregnant and have a 4 yr old-everyones is healthy-not sure it kept me up all night.

well, we broke up about 5 months ago, cause of some issues including some other girl i was in love with
Well this girl i broke up with said she loves me, and i love her too,
but it was bound to end, so we part ways

well, it was m y birthdAY a about 20 days ago - so this girl, sent my friend an Sms and told him to wish me on her behalf - she didn't do it herself, cause after we broke up i told her to think of me as i dont exist and never to speak to me again, she said fine!!

well - That was all done, 3 days after she called my friend and spoke to him, cause some people told her i was still into her, so she asked him, he denied it - and she said cool thanks.
Next day, My friend asked her to come to our hangout spot and told her that i was there to - she refused to and said she would like to save the ackwardness and its a very bad idea if she shows up - she said it does not make scense

that was new years eve - well, i heard that that night she had a date for new years
