A close friend of mine lies about everything and he does this very often. I have caught him in so many lies that on one hand its funny, but in reality, its very sad. For an example, he lies about where he ate that day. I have tried explaining that he doesn't have to lie to me, but it persists. Is there a therapist that specializes in this area?

never believe them and have a plan B.
I know two people like this- one is my husbands X and the other is a guy that we bought our house from who promised to fix it up to code before we moved in . He made daily promises, never fulfilled them and then moved with no forwarding address.
It does no good to tell them that they lie- they will deny it, and it does no good to point out the lies that they stated, they will find an excuse. For some strange reason, they think that if they say it- it is real or will magically happen, as if it is a done deal. The best way to deal with these people is to AVOID THEM!

They can be ignored. Or maybe they can't be, but since the situation isn't described, I can't really say much else.
