I was talking about motivation in schools with a person today and that person(a 'good student') said:
"Those mature and intelligent enough don't give a s**t about motivation and just do it."
Is this really what today's teenagers belive they should be doing? Conformity? Is it really mature to "just do" things you really don't care about? Disliking a subject but still have A's?
Is this type of conformity (still doing what we dislike for rewards) good outside of school? Are we easily satisfied?
Is it really intelligent to conform to what we think is wrong?
For example, knowing that the way teachers are teaching is not the most effective way to make me learn. Should I conform and "just do it", and then have the good grades just because those are demanded of us?

That person also said :"It's not what you want to learn, it's what educational experts determine should be the minimum knowledge an individual should have."

Do educational experts really know what they're doing?

I have been taking care of him and teaching him new bahaviors for five years, the long part is havng to deal with his mom, she is like a child too, and I do love the boy, and he has slowly been allowed to see his mother, she is suing for custody- she is not a stranger to him and she is more of a con than a mentally ill person. I am not asking my husband to chose , he is thinking about giving him back to her so this is a question for him too. I would not let any of my kids be around her, but he is not my child and i cannot make that choice for him. She has been diognosed with bipolar disorder and she wants him back now after 5 years and claims to be able to handle it . she is also getting remarried but she is bitter and wants us apart and hates me for being there to care for her son. It is a tuff situation and it is affecting the other kids very negativley as well as our marriage, we have been in and out of court for years, its driving the sane people crazy. please advise

How they'd become as though a normal human when it came to the topic and act of it and not feel strange about it. Males typically are sought to for help if they're portrayed as weak to the female, it's an extreme turn-off to them.

Some people did ask this before, but I was curious cuz I'm having this dream for more than 15 years now.

I dream that I'm doing the normal stuff that I do, nothing fancy, but I can left off the ground and fly! Which is fun and a lot easier than walking and it looks so real that I can always convince myself that I can fly. And when I wake up I feel cheated again because I believed that I can fly.

I have this dream all the time, and I almost always believe in it, but I don't like the feeling of deceit after I wake up.
In all my other dreams I have a sense that this is only a dream, like I'm awake and dreaming, except for this one.

Ten years of this and we have custody of his and her son. The boy is doing very well now after 5 long years of caring for him, he is great but she wont leave us alone or give us any peace. Should we just give him back to get rid of her? She is tearing our marriage apart. I am afraid for the boy and I love him very much, but we have other kids to think about too. Any advice would be great.

I have a terrible habit of going red in the face usually in akward situations but sometimes even just when attention is on me! I know I'm ovbiously self concious but I don't know what. I'm quite a confident person and not shy at all so I don't understand why this happens! I find it really embarrassing though.

I went to my sons high school football game last Friday. I am a 36 year old man. I actually noticed the cheerleaders doing their flips and kind of was staring at their legs and booty. Is it wrong to get an erection in that situation or notice so detailed like I did? I just felt like a dirty old man

Yes I am Jewish. Does that make the joke okay? Was "Springtime for Hitler" funny? Would it have been funny if Clint Eastwood did it instead of Mel Brooks? Is it okay to joke about murder? Will someone please tell me what I can and can't laugh at?

I lost a full term baby a few months ago and since then I have developed a lot of annoying habits. I was always quite the neat freak but I believe it may be out of control. If my bf moves something in our house a few inches I feel the uncontrollable need to move it back where I want it. I clean the bathroom with bleach or comet once a day. I absolutely cannont stand things when they are out of place. Our house although very lived in could be in a Home and Garden magazine. This doesn't really sound like a problem but it is taking over my life. Sometimes I'm late for things because I'm running around the house straightening pillows and area rugs before I leave. I've even folded towels more than once until I get them perfect. As I mentioned before, I was always sort of a neat freak but after I lost the baby it has gotten worse and way out of control and even ridiculous. Does it sound like I could have some type of OCD?

I do my homework all day long, and I study almost all day long as well... and I've noticed over the past 2 years of doing this that If something is hard for me to understand when I am awake, I'll dream about it all night long and actually remember it and understand it SO MUCH better when I awake, But I will still feel completely refreshed and Not drowsy at all. I LOVE IT.... I have many friends who are jealous of this multi tasking I can do. But I want to know if there is a specific term for what Im doing...and do others do this? I have never met anyone else who studies in their sleep... the best part is that its almost like a photographic memory (even tho my memory when Im awake stinks) Ill be re reading things or looking over class notes in my sleep and they are COMPLETELY accurate... down to the doodles I draw... Its amazing to me.
