I do my homework all day long, and I study almost all day long as well... and I've noticed over the past 2 years of doing this that If something is hard for me to understand when I am awake, I'll dream about it all night long and actually remember it and understand it SO MUCH better when I awake, But I will still feel completely refreshed and Not drowsy at all. I LOVE IT.... I have many friends who are jealous of this multi tasking I can do. But I want to know if there is a specific term for what Im doing...and do others do this? I have never met anyone else who studies in their sleep... the best part is that its almost like a photographic memory (even tho my memory when Im awake stinks) Ill be re reading things or looking over class notes in my sleep and they are COMPLETELY accurate... down to the doodles I draw... Its amazing to me.

Have you heard of Edgar Cayce? He was called the sleeping prophet, lived in Kentucky, and now there is a library at Virginia Beach VA, where you can go and look up any question and read his answers. He proposed that if you want to learn something, as you say, to put the book under your pillow and you will absorb it in sleep. This is how he learned also. You are a very special person, with very rare, special gifts, to be used for the good of humanity.

I'm a computer programmer. Recently, I dreamed about a program I was trying to fix. I had been getting very frustrated with it because I couldn't figure out why it was not functioning properly. One night, I dreamed an explanation. The next day, I checked my dream explanation. Well, it was wrong about what the problem was, but somehow the way to solve the problem had also become much easier for me. I fixed it that day.

Sorry, I don't know the term for what you describe. Sometimes there just aren't words for everything. If you're studying psychology, maybe you can make this phenomenon the subject of a doctoral thesis -- if you did, you would get to name it!

This is a true fact and I have experienced it myself. It has happened also to some friends and we have discussed about it. Sometimes I have been trying to solve mathematical problems or working at home with simple computer programs without results and I have been forced to leave them for the next day.
Bingo! The next morning, even without thinking of it, I have the solution. In my case I sleep well all night. My friends say that their computer has been working overnight.
My purpose in this is mainly to reinforce the truth of what you have exposed.
I am sorry I cannot give you the answer to your question as it is very difficult one to search about. I am sure the best source is a qualified person in this field.
