Some people did ask this before, but I was curious cuz I'm having this dream for more than 15 years now.

I dream that I'm doing the normal stuff that I do, nothing fancy, but I can left off the ground and fly! Which is fun and a lot easier than walking and it looks so real that I can always convince myself that I can fly. And when I wake up I feel cheated again because I believed that I can fly.

I have this dream all the time, and I almost always believe in it, but I don't like the feeling of deceit after I wake up.
In all my other dreams I have a sense that this is only a dream, like I'm awake and dreaming, except for this one.

My problem with this dream is that it's so real I'm not saving the world or doing an extraordinary thing.
I'm just studying, working, cooking or just walking and out of the sudden I decide to left off the ground and walk in the air, sometimes I say to myself "It must be a dream" but the answer would be quick: "I've done this before, I've been doing it all my life, I can fly, what is so hard to believe about that?"

While in a normal dream whenever something strange happens, I seem to realize that I'm dreaming but I continue the dream if I like.

I know the feeling of waking up from a really happy dream to discover reality is not so nice.

The best thing that I can suggest, in that nowadays psychologists feel that the dreamer should be the one to define the meaning of dream symbols, is that you try to figure out what flying means to you. I think a good part of your answer is actually in your question. Flying is a lot easier than walking. My uneducated guess is that you would want the easy way of doing things, and you have created it in your dreams. I am not a psychologists and I have only 2 terms of psych in college, so I am no expert. Another guess is that you might have some physical disability which makes walking difficult in reality and that your wish to be free of disability is expressed in your dream. Remember what I am suggesting comes from a semi-educated mind, but maybe I have given you some ideas to think about. your answer will ultimately come from you. Good luck

Addendum: Jamiesaca also has a very good idea about "rising above", Maybe not through meditation exanctly, but she migh be on target

Flying in dreams indicates that the dreamer has strong intellect. As a spiritual gift it indicates that you have the ability to do absent healing, hypnosis and mind projection. In your dreams it is used as a technique to 'rise above' a situation and does indeed have a very empowering feeling associated with it. In life it would be similar to mentally rising above a situation by meditating on the bigger picture.

Your soul is driving this dream. It is able to leave your body at night and soar anywhere it wants, as long as it doesn't go too far. The soul is not needed at night, while you sleep.

According to good old Freud's interpretation of dreams you are dissipating sexual feelings.
