Body language is definitely a language, and I'll bet as time went on, before language was present, one man sitting in a cave a thousand miles away from another made the same grunt as another man, and facial expressions of displeasure when he didn't get that last hunk of meat off of the fire from the kill. Although not a best answer-I answered an almost similar question about the smile-at least I thought it made sense-I'll go get it and post it below here-I was trying to convey the EXACT message YOU are now-no comment on the askers best answer choice. BRB

Ummm-Mine actually WAS the best answer: also before I paste it, I had a head-injury and have amygdala problems, which tends tonot only HEIGHTEN emotional response-but to buttress YOUR theory-studies suggest heightened activity in the amygdala actually increase psychic activity in the person experiencing amygdalic overload.....so yes, I would say without a doubt, your question is 100% right on. I like questions like this, henceforth, my answer below

In most mammal species, showing ones teeth shows that I have the wherewithal, with these teeth to battle. Maybe, it is a sign, throughout sociological centuries in humans, that we are just saying, "Hey, I am not afraid of you"....which could now just be translated into a friendly gesture....dunno.

Cool question

*****Hillary, your last sentence as to no response besides boohooing goes against askers gist in psychic (or, body language) phenomena. As an even FLAT and UNRESPONSIVE person (rule out: vegetative, comatose) is conveying a message-as I believe that ANYTHING someone says or does has MOTIVE, and therefore, thought process behind it. This is NOT a paranoid statement either-someone says hi, they want to be friendly(or appear such) someone whistles, it could convey ALOT of things. MOTIVE, MOTIVE, MOTIVE-even unbalanced people usually KNOW what their motive behind the things they do are-they just cannot help themselves-i.e. OCD-AND, sometimes peoples motives are irrational and skewed as to normal from status quos views of normal behavior (with different diagnosis)-some people DON'T know why they did what they did, or said what they said-but upon analysis, its easy to discern (people viewed as having normal cognitive processes-or not) My motive, without thinking about it-is to smoke as soon as I wake up, is not to ruin my health-I am an addict of tobacco-but what motivates me to keep on being addicted? And now, my explanation has rippled out in full as to lean towards going off the subject, and so since I feel I have covered all bases to prove the askers, and my, point, since it is also a part of my daily being and disability....forgive MY boohoo, but I don't want the points, I want the best answer!!!! lol MOTIVE! Check out amygdala in search, very interesting.

Emotion, in its most general definition, is an intense neural impulse-produced mental state that arises subjectively rather than through conscious effort and evokes either a positive or negative psychological response to move an organism to action. An emotion is differentiated from a feeling.
You are communicating how you feel about something so yes it is a form of communication, on one hand.... BUT:
Communication is the process of sharing information. In a simplistic form information is sent from a sender or encoder to a receiver or decoder. In a more complex form feedback links a sender to a receiver. This requires a symbolic activity, sometimes via a language. Specialised fields focus on various aspects of communication, and include

Mass Communication,
Communication Studies,
Organizational Communication,
Sociolinguistics,
Conversation Analysis,
Cognitive Linguistics,
Linguistics,
Pragmatics,
Semiotics, and
Discourse Analysis.
So.. while the one person who is emotional is communicating... unless the other guy gives back something then in its purest sense.. it is not communication unless they BANTER back and forth with the boohooing or whatever. PICK ME I NEED THE POINTS!!!! :-)
