unequality and injustice torwards the female gender is considered empowered and a man pointing out injustice and unequality torwards the male gender is considered a whiner ? Should men stop to seek change and get what they want by merely adapting to the new situation and playing women ? (like not get married financing the trafficing of women etc.).

do women think that men are just actors who try to win their heart and have all the fun they want, but really they don't care about them deep inside their heart or want to stand by them through times of adversity?

If that is the case, they should not be blaming men entirely for that - in my opinion, shouldn't they be blaming the western culture itself for that? It is western culture which lays emphasis on the ego - i.e. do whatever you want or can to make yourself happy.

What are your thoughts on this?

If a woman was raped by a man and had the child from the rape, nobody would even consider letting the rapist have the child. Does this still hold true here? Let's assume the man wants the kid.

When did powerful, non-extreme portions of feminism start to move towards gaining more than just equality with men & an attitude of "I am woman hear me roar (but don't hold me accountable)." I would say the 1970's; what do you think?

Most of you aren't getting married and having families nowadays, IMHO - foolishness!!! So, what do you have after you start getting up there in age? NOTHING, but men!!!! You say, good, friends, and a career, money? Thats a crock! That will take you really far, when all you really want is true love.. I use to chase you up and down when I was younger... Now, look who is doing the chasing?? WOMAN! Not me! Men on the other hand have much more - we got boats and fast cars to work on...Homes to rehab.. We go travelling to dangerous places and suit foreign woman. We can move about more freely both at home and abroad because we have less fears, and are less-inclined to have to deal with the uncivilized raping us in 3rd world. Its great to be a man! Of course these comments above don't aplly to beautiful woman. They are tough to come in the USA where most are FAT!!! Comments!

Like back in the early 1900's when women were so oppressed that feminism was born. When women couldn't vote or get paid the same as men, and all around didn't have the same rights as men.

Or like in the middle east where it's acceptable in some parts for men to brutally disfigure their wives if they feel they have behaved poorly. Or like in Christianity or Catholism where it has been the rule that only men could be priests. Or some parts of Asia where in the past, it was socially acceptable for families to kill the unborn daughter with beliefs that men are more valuable.

How did women let this happen? I'm sure that at least some of them weren't forced to follow these ways of life. Did some of these women agree with the rules and thats why they did nothing about it?

What I'm getting at is, is it more sound to say that both men AND women caused the problem of oppression of women? Or ( & prepare for the slight sarcasm) were women somehow magically controlled to be oppressed?

From what I've seen of girl - girl/woman - woman confrontations, they smile through their teeth at each other, and then stab each other in the back at the first opportunity. Would make for a rather boring war, no? Everyone just talking, than sinking the enemies shipment of scented soaps in the middle of the atlantic?

Islam has a fine dress code, which is now ‘emulating western men’ and forsaken by most Muslim women. In many parts of the world, female constitution is widely utilized by 'spectators'. (When I speak about Islamic dress code, it never means the one that covers the whole body. I mean a dress that covers except face and palm).

I've met a few women, (not sure if they were feminists or not) who will do this to me, and I end up feeling like just by the act of me disagreeing, someone will say, "oh, it's because of your ego".

Like for example; your working on a project. You just started. A woman comes over & in a harsh way, tells you what you have is terrible because it doesn't look finished. You get a little irritated that she doesn't realize you just started & say that it doesn't look right because you just started. She then says, "why are you so defensive?" You say your not being defensive, your just stating the fact that you just started so ofcourse it doesn't look right yet. She then says, "you don't take criticism well & I think it's because of your ego. You seemed to have attitude when I told your project looked wrong."

So it seems that in order to not be seen as being controlled by ego, the guy can only blindly agree with her statement. This seems wrong.

What are your thoughts?

that the home/ family/ cleaning/ cooking/ child rearing is woman's work (and men are incapable)
and the workplace/ money making/ ruling is men's work (and women are incapable)
included in these roles must come the negativity, women being sexualized but called sluts if they are sexual, men being notorious for infidelity, women being weak & fainty and if they're strong they must be lesbians, men being perpetually strong and if they're not they're gay, women being bad at math, men being bad at communication, women can't work, men can't raise children... etc etc...

do these roles seem helpful to anyone? why?
does anyone agree that these roles can be damaging to those that don't fit in them neatly? such as women who work or single fathers?
could the lingering gender roles be the source of double standards, and not necessarily feminism as some suggest?
