Never. In fact that was probably the most haunting book I have ever read to this day. Every time I think about that "choice" it rips my heart out. I would rather choose to end my own life.

I've never read the book nor seen the movie, but I know the story. No, I could not imagine making that choice.

Is that book based on a true story ? Usually only a fraction of the deported people were kept alive to do the dirty work, why should the Nazis pick a woman and a child ? Were women and their children kept to blackmail the mothers for sexual services ?

Loved that book... Loved the movie.

I own both

and the human impact was fantastic! Excellent story!

and no... I couldn't... Chosing between my two children... is utterly devestating for me to even consider... let alone in 10 seconds....

No!!! I had never watched that movie before and when I did...I wasn't expecting it. No, I could never, ever choose--I would beg for them to kill me instead. What a heartwrenching movie!!
