Having spend some time in Israel, I have had some first hand opinions and interaction with women in the Middle East, both from Jewish and Moslem backgrounds, as my partner worked extensively in education on Public Health over there.

I often hear comments relating to how "oppressed" women are, and while it is certainly true that womens roles are often very different to those of women in say England or the US, I am not sure that their lives are as the western media portrays them.

Sure, there are different expectations of dress, and different types of marriages, yet the middle eastern women I have directly encountered have been strong, vital figures in their families, respected within their society, strongly opinionated and passionate.

There are certainly areas in which they do not have equal rights, and aspects of culture which I personally find hard to stomach, but as to whether they are oppressed - that is a complex question.

What are your impressions?

Recently the Euro has passed the dollar in value, and two whack-jobs no longer want oil's value based on the dollar. If the value of our money collapses so does our economy, and there's no doubt there are people out there trying to accomplish that feat.

What do we do and how do we do it to get back up on top?

Oil just below $100 dollars a barrel and pump prices are over 50 per cent profit, and yet still no real choice for American consumers for hybrid or alternative fuel, even with exploited tax breaks (by the automakers) and obvious demand.....

My daughter and I were out for a walk in town together. We crossed a zebra crossing on which someone had dropped a carton of eggs. It was a busy crossing and no way could it have been like that for more than a few minutes. I had the strongest of deja vu sensations.which lasted for at least five minutes. I said nothing about it. When we got home my daughter said " It was so strange. When we crosed that zebra crossing. I felt as though it had all happened before " This must disprove all those theories about brain cicuits etc. Comments please.

A group of people I didn't know, including me had to walk up a lot of stairs. They were shallow steps like an opulent hotel. A baby was there with her father and uncle and she wanted to walk by herself but a woman kept picking her up. The babys dad told the woman that she was fine walking but if she wanted to help she could stand behind her and make sure she didn't fall. The woman didn't listen and picked her up again, the child struggled against her and the woman dropped her. The baby fell all the way to the bottom of the stairs and as one the group all went back down the stairs to get her. When we got to the bottom she was upset and screaming but not hurt. Could someone help me with this please, it's driving me insane! Thanks.

My daughter dreamed of riding our car through obstacles (brick wall, rocks, ect...) and doing so with ease as we went to some underground area. The funny thing is that she saw our pastor and he was standing near a coffee table with a "Gone With The Wind" book on it. Your ideas?

I dreamed I was working with kids at a church. We were outside near a creek when an eerie mist comes our way and it feels cool. Then we hear a massive tree begin to crack and break. We run inside and take cover. The tree falls and just misses the church. No one is hurt.

I know this guy at work who insists he is right about EVERYTHING. And when he sees someone else's work, he'll go over to them, and as if giving them a compliment, will say something like, "I was checking on your work, and I can tell you that I found it right on target" (with the emphasis on "I" as though now the other person should feel good because this 'genius' determined it was good). When he 'compliments' me on my work, I say 'That's nice, but I don't really care what you think' Am I being mean? This guy won't change and I just feel he needs to be told by someone that not everyone thinks he is 'brilliant' since everyone else is afraid to say so.

is it because they cant imagine that somone could see the world without a superior gender? Is that just a concept beyond their comprehension?

This study took place a long time ago. I am guessing anywhere from the 1940's to the 1960's. In those days the work place was very strict, no talking allowed. The study did show an improvement in productivity ,but better and improved lighting was not the reason. The productivity increased because the employee's where allowed to talk to each other. I heard of this study 20 years ago, in my labor economics class in college.
Could you help me find the name of the study and who conducted the study.?
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I go to a church function every sunday. It's hard for me to go, because I have a hard time talking to people. I have this one girl friend that I talk to, but other than that it's sooooo hard for me.

Well Imagine; 8 or 9 guys crowding around you and your friend, talking amongst eachother and to you. You freeze up, and want to get out of there, fast. You can't think of anything to say and look like a complete dumbass. You have done things like this repeatedly and feel like you will never change...and also you have already had the shy, quiet "status" going on, so it's no like you can get a fresh start.

I don't know what to ask for, maybe just some consolation for being socially awkward?...I feel like I'm in a constant panic because I just can't deal with all these social things.

I'm almost 18, so I think i'm pretty set in my ways with socializing. Anyone else feel this torture?
