Cultivating a long-term relationship is both easy and difficult, as the case may be. Strong and lasting relationships thrive on love, understanding, perseverance, sacrifice, honesty, compatibility and God's grace. Of all the attributes mentioned above, God's grace is the most important. With god's grace, all other attributes will be present, making the process of long term relationships quite easy. No relationship can last or take place at all if some or all items enumerated above are non-existent.

if it's meant to be, it will be! Cultivate all you want but if the connections not there on both sides to start with, or the other does not hold that connection, then there's nothing anyone can do about it. When the right sparks and connections are there, you would not have to be asking this question. With relationships and people being so varied, it is hard for anyone to answer, other than what we all know needs to go into every relationship.

Because the relationship is one of two things.
Either its an immesurable set of chemical and physiological processes that happen to combine very well, or there is a bond there between the two people that cannot be explained because it cant be observed, measured or tested.

Personally, I think relationships, successful and long term lasting relationships begin because of chemical and physiological processes, but they last because of a willingness on both side to be selfless, from the smallest to the grandest sacrifices.
But to my mind, there can only be one who is selfless at any one time. Its not good for both to be selfless all the time. That it tiring. Equally, its not good for only one person to be the selfless one, the relationship will end.
Partners must drift between selflessness and selfishness.

For long term relationships, partners must spend most of their time opposing eachother in this way, otherwise there'll be one too many rifts, or boredom will ensue.

Hello "Who me",

Before answering your question I read some of your other questions.

I think in order for you to establish a strong relationship with another person, you must first establish a strong relationship with God.

You need to know you are loved and valued spiritually, and between you and God, determine your destiny.

It may be to remain single, or to become a wife and a mother. When you know what it is, seek it quietly and patiently, knowing that nothing can prevent God from accomplishing his will.

Do not allow anyone or anything to cause you to lose faith, or devalue yourself. People are worth more than the flesh on their bones. A loving, caring person is hard to come by in this universe.

What do you mean no one can describe it - that is the biggest section of any modern big box bookstore for example.

More interesting to me is, is there anyone who can't and won't explain it, thinking they are the expert and no one else is :)
