From wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_intelligence - much more than I have posted if you are interested,

"The first published attempt toward a definition was made by Salovey and Mayer (1990) who defined EI as “the ability to monitor one's own and others' feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one's thinking and actions”"

There is a fun free test you can take here, though you will need to create an account to do so:

http://web.tickle.com/tests/eiq/

So what do you reckon? Are women more Emotionally Intelligent than Men?

I don't mean daydreaming, I mean dreaming at night.

For instance, my mom dreams only once or twice a year but I get dreams every night or every other night. I started making a "dream log" and i've dreamt the 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th.

I was just wondering how some people have so many dreams whereas some people dont?

I studied Physics in the Uk between 1988-1991 and a Masters between 1993-1994.

In the undergraduate course the intake was around 200, the average grade entrance was (uk A level AAB for men, BBB for women). The minimum requirement was BBC.

In terms of final year awards (degree classes third, honours lower second, upper second and first class) the distribution of grades from female students was identical to male students within accepted statistical parameters. Despite the fact that the average entry grade of women was lower.

There were 40 female students and 160 men in my year, and the university department researched this data, although I am citing it from memory.

The Masters course I attended had 18 students of whom just 2 were women, who both passed their exams.

I can only conclude from this (as the university I graduated concluded that women who enter degree courses in hard sciences do just as well as the men.

What are your experiences on this matter?

From the article:
---
Even Tennessee, the NCAA's top draw in women's basketball, knows it takes more than seven national titles to put fans in the stands, especially students.

"One of the things we have always heard from students is that they have so much going on. So I said, 'What can we do to entice you?"' said Jimmy Delaney, the Lady Vols' marketing director.

The promotion Delaney and coach Pat Summitt came up with? Free tuition.

---

can you think of other "incentives" to fill the seats at Lady Vol games?

It seems not to be a lack of intelligence, humans are very clever to defend their established 'personality', they are very clever to manipulate others and they are extremely clever using all their intellect to create the most sophisticated concepts on al levels. But then they are so stupid, that they destroy themselves and every thing around. They are not capable to use the possibilities to help themselves to get out of their stupidity. Humans are so stupid that they close themselves up and stay with their habits and attitudes, even though they are not happy, getting sick and desperate and punishing themselves for being so stupid by destroying themselves and the place they are living and all the other alife beings. They make laws against crime but also laws to protect their stupidity. How is it possible to be so stupid? There seems no way out. The dog is chasing his own tail and is to occupied and satisfied with it, that he can't and don’t want to find out that he is stupid!

Someone in this forum stated that he believes that social sciences like psychology or sociology are "easier" to learn than other sciences. Is this why it takes a so long to become a clinical psychologist? (This person also stated that women gravitate toward social sciences because these are "softer" courses, and that men gravitate toward other sciences and math.)

What do you think?

"Pedagogy (IPA: /ˈpɛdəgoʊdʒi/) , the art or science of being a teacher, generally refers to strategies of instruction, or a style of instruction."

The Good Old Days:
Pre-feminist paedagogy

Flunking the Kid: if their work isn't up to standard we fail the kid. This may mean repeating just one course, or an entire year. Boys fared better then.

Strapping the Kid: no problems with ADD/ADHD in those days. If a kid wasn't doing what he or she was supposed to, the teacher or principal would whack them once on each open palm with a thick leather strap. Boys fared better then.

Detention: bad kids get to sit at their desk doing even MORE course work for an hour or so after school - sometimes for weeks on end. Boys fared better then.

OK before I say anything else this question is NOT an invitation for misogynists to give "blame the victim" answers!

Now to explain my question..is it possible that some women don't recognise the signs of an abuser's behaviour and take them as signals before they are go into an abusive relationship? I mean they just couldn't see it?

Of course an abuser can be so good at hiding it at first that Any one can miss it. I hope we all realise that.

But some women spot abusers more early than others and I'm wondering than maybe some women simply can't? The perception or intuition for it is just not there.

If this is true than can we teach them what the signs of a potential abuser are? What is the best way to do it if we can? And is it being done?

Definition (Webster's 3rd College Edition Dictionary)-"Feminism = The principle that women should have political, economic, and social rights equal to those of men."

The dictionary definition defines the majority of all women's feminist goals. We have achieved so much. Culture is far more complex than just gender issues.....

I believe that men and women have the same reactions to their brain. Some people think differently. They say male have the left side of their brain only and only that part is usually functionally. The left side of their brain only allows them to analytically but female can use both the left and right side of their brains. So they can think analytically and emotionally. Is their any scientific proof for this?

I personally believe that men and female think and react different because of society. Society expects men and women to act so differently. The two gender, in most cultures, differ in almost everything. Expectations on men not showing emotional feeling have caused men to appear as not being able to think emotionally. And that showing emotional feelings are feminine.

So what do you think... or know? is it society or nature?

I was thinking that WEALTH IS TRADED especially in ASSETS SUCK AS STOCK and stock is being traded and so your actually buying part of the companies land and assets etc. MONEY really isn't traded it's just USED as a score card so to speak for how MUCH GOODS and Wealth one can have to TRADE. IS my idea correct? So then people are always talking about the economy and how bad it is people like Bill gates are around and such but DOES THIS REALLY MATTER IF WEALTH IS TRADED. Anyway opinions and ideas and are my ideas correct?

Many people simply don't know and others type phonetically, but it seems a dispropotionate number of words are showing up in correspondence with "a" for "e" or "i" for "a", etc.
Do you have to correct a lot of such typos you never had to before? When did the problem start? What do you think is the cause?

Why are the eskimo people tanned? Well, not as much as people towards the equator, but why are they darker than northern Europeans, who lived in the same conditions?
