why is it when a question like this :
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtpOnPArcmAEPihMaHx.N5EYxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20071118204258AAOQZdW
is asked, the only ones who claim any one is superior are the anti-feminists who complain about female supremacy?

is it because they cant imagine that somone could see the world without a superior gender? Is that just a concept beyond their comprehension?

J'adore: I appreciate your answer, because it is thought out and logical, and not simply trying to rattle cages. mainly, im asking this question with regards to trends that seem to pop up on this forum, and attacks on beliefs that make the rounds pretty regularly.

Cassius: I see what you are saying, and when you use the term "female supremacists" that is what you mean. however, there is a good deal of people who use your term and have defined it to mean that women, and feminists specifically, find women to be superior.

Yes, I do believe more than a few people in GWS think that equality is impossible-they only believe one can be superior and the other inferior. Thankfully, there aren't as many of them outside of GWS, and less and less of the younger generation are so misguided, as these older males and females, who are clinging by their fingernails to the past.

I think both genders have their own strength and weakness which can be substituted and supplemented by each other. Historically, as Dan Kindlon who is the author of a book "Alpha Girl" noted, women are genetically or conditionally better at multi-tasking than men. But it's too obvious to deny that men are physically and biologically stronger than women though there should be some exceptional cases. For the intelligence part, I can never determine which gender has better capacity and function of brain and intelligence level. However, being physically weaker than the other has so much disadvantageous influence on acquiring and deserving exactly the same power and right in society. Because this is patriarchal society, it's even more certain that women are situated in more troublesome condition than men. Even if I'd let us say women make less salary and women contribute less to the society than men do, I am convinced that the women's less successful performance than men is not because women are less capable of the intelligent activities or other internal qualification, but the gender dominance is mainly due to the social structure and gender norms created by the more powerful forces (usually physical aspect) to reserve the social condition in the way they want it to be.

I think people who will claim that someone is superior are those who have views that are stuck in models based on binary opposition. There is always an 'other' to them and since we live in a patriarchal society the other is always women.

Generally (save for the 'feminazi' types), people who accept feminism are able to recognise that this othering is no different when women are made to be superior, so this idea of female supremacy is rejected by them.

Subject: Hey

Message: You've never seen a feminist claim women are superior?

Either you're blind or in denial. Either case, those who've read your answer aren't going to value you as an unbiased 3rd party.
*Ends*

Appreciate you contacting me to share your views, which would matter more to me if I cared about how others view me.

If people don't like my views or consider me not 'unbiased' it's not a big issue for me, although I try to be fair and say it how I see it (not the same as 'unbiased', I know, but hey ...).

Whatever, I'm not in charge of what people think about me, and don't want to be.

Cya, have a great day (or night where you are?)

~*~*~*~

That's a good point.

I don't think I've seen any of the feminists here (that is, those people who support feminism in some form or another) say 'women are superior', but I see it time and again from those who say there's a lot of misandry about.

I wonder what misandry means to them ~ refusal to acknowledge that men are better?

Cheers :-)

I am a female. Neither feminist or non, I have to say that I don't really understand your question fully, but I would like to add that in a way I do feel men are superior to women. IN GENERAL, this is not the case I know in all aspects, but from a woman's stand point (which is mine)

in general men make more money, are stronger, are taken more seriously, and are more dominant, and tend to stick up for themselves better, and are less likely to be taken advantage of. And I'm fine with that. I accept that my husband is the dominant one in the household. I like that. I feel like i am being taken care of.

I could go out and support myself, and do what he does, but i am happy the way things are.

I think that supremacy is a very misused word for this subject. I agree that women can do most of the things men can do. But there are some thing women have no business doing.
for example, Navy Seals.

A long time ago, a great rule of protecting women and children was put into place. Save us first, and the men last. Now if it wasn't like this, people would be complaining, that the women children needed help first because they are weaker... people are never happy and will find something to protest and complain about...

i'm happy being a woman, and i know that I can not do everything my husband can, and i'm fine with that.

it doesn't mean i don't respect myself, it just means, that I am not high on some crazy thought, that i should be a football player and get kicked around a field bye a 300lb man. Or i should be parachuting out of the back of a plane with 500 lbs of equipment strapped to my back, to hike thru mountainous terrain to kill a terrorost... i know my limits...

It just might be because they have spent their lives without asking any questions: it seemed easier that way at the time. However, when one gives up her ability to think, her personal development never takes place and she stays very naive and silly for the rest of her life. Middle aged woman with a teenage state of mind is sad and somewhat pathetic, because she simply does not belong anywhere. I hope my rumblings had answered your question in some way.

Rarely when you have two of anything, one won't try to be superior to the other. I honestly think sexual equality is a pipe dream, a nice pipe dream, but a pipe dream all the same. Hopefully I am proven wrong.

Since I was a teenager in the sixties and early seventies I've always thought that the women were better. By the time I was in my early forties I learnt that the female gender is by far the superior.
Not better, okay? Not better but the superior gender. In order for your gender to be the equal of men, you would have to 'climb down to our level' and that my dear woman would be the end of mankind. We would fly to the threshold of Armageddon.
Who would be left to stop us?

Female supremacy isnt about the claim who is better at what, but about status preferential treatment and special laws.
The term is slightly missleading I admit that, oftentimes quite the opposite is the case, female supremacists dont claim a superiority of women, they even almost justify the preferential treatment with an inferiority of women or at least claiming to have special needs, which need to be reflected in laws and rights given to women and denied to men.
