So you believe in HUMAN interests equally AND you want special perks and bonuses for women exclusively?

Something doesn't add up there.

Modern feminism is about gaining special perks for women. It's about treating men as an oppressive class and legislating against them.

If you sign up for that, you are NOT a humanist.

Im in high school and i take all advanced placement classes. I don't have any trouble understanding material we cover in class, but my problem is speed. I'm ALWAYS the last one to finish reading an assignment during class. My reading speed is sluggish and sometimes i have to re-read a sentence 3-4 times before i understand what its saying, and i often misread words. I have difficulty expressing myself verbally and I have a whole lot of trouble concentrating. Its like my head is a radio station thats buzzing a whole lot of nonsence, which makes it impossible for me to focus and get anything done. I also have a lot of difficulty planning ahead and proiritizing things i have to do. I end up doing everything at the last minute, despite my best efforts to start things earlier. I feel like if i could just focus and finish things faster, i'd do so much better in school. Is it possible that i have a learning disorder? What should i do?

I am not ticklish. AT ALL. People have tried tickling me everywhere and it does nothing but hurt me. It feels like people are trying to claw my fat off. It's not like I'm super skinny or fat or anything. I only weigh 115. Is there any LOGICAL and WELL BACKED reason as to why this could be?

I'm having a hard time with this. It's not easy to explain. My 5 year old son was molested @ his Dad's house by his new wife's 14 year old foster-daughter, on numerous occasions when the kids were there, while my 4 year old girl watched. The 14 year old has admitted what she's done, my 4 & 5 year old kids are in Therapy @ Children's Hospital. My Family Court case is this Wednesday to solidify legal & physical custody of the kids.

The issue I'm struggling w/today is my reaction in wanting to confront this 14 year old girl & tell her she's going to burn in hell, etc. She is a victim of incest by her Father herself, that's why she's in Foster Care & has been in Therapy since she was 8 or 9? It seems to me if she's had years of Therapy, she should know better & wouldn't want to introduce other children to the types of issues she has dealt with.

I know it's wrong for me to confront her, but my head really ran with what I would say to her today.

What Would You Do?

I feel left out and feel like I don't fit for some reason. I'm 29 year old SAHM of an almost 4 year old boy. All the moms in my son's playgroup are all young like 24 years old. I still feel very young than my age but I feel like I don't fit in because of my age and I'm kinda jealous because they're all younger than me and more mature than me. How do I get over it?

Modern feminism is not the noble quest for equality some women think. ...& yet some women get so defensive & emotional when anyone tries to point to areas where feminism has failed & where feminists have fallen off the beam.

Feminism is not above critique.

http://www.iwf.org/news/show/19778.html

Feminists have a long history of saying some pretty nasty things about men.

Feminists have a long history of creating & supporting laws that are sexist & slanted.

Feminists are not perfect.

I have been researching feminism for a long time. (Really researching it... not just adopting the tag for myself & feeling all empowered & happy.) I've read tons of articles from feminists & I've read tons of articles from anti-feminists.

The amount of anti-male & anti-society & anti-marriage filth that comes from the side of feminism is staggering.

The amount of "re-programming" of our young boys away from masculinity is nothing short of disgusting.

Research modern feminism. You'll see.

I had this odd dream that I was riding the subway. After I left one of the trains and the train left, I ran onto a different platform, where the floor was magnetized from underneath (unbeknownst to me). I had to very slowly roll as I was being "magnetized" to the floor, to the other side of the platform where there were no magnets under the floor. I managed to do this, but twisted or perhaps even fractured my ankle because of the magnetic forces as I rolled around like a log. I then realized that had I walked along the edge of the platform, where the rails are, along a thin black strip of platform, I could have avoided the magnets all together and have been fine. Any clues to what this may mean? Thanks

I partook in pro-government East Germany rallies. I questioned why there was no image of Lenin at a Mcdonalds in East Germany and I was very irate about it. I snuck into East Berlin in support of East German. I ran to run to a truck to sneak into East Germany. I made the statement we hate american captialism. I said that Jesus was the first Communist before Gorbachav made the statement that he was the first socialist. I then expounded my views on the oneness of God and how Jesus Christ was that one God had come in the flesh. The news reporter only wrote down the secular things that I said when I doing an interview. And then there were goverment people in people's homes listening to what people said. I told people not to worry about them I said there fine. I wasn't even concerned that they were around. What the strange thing was is that this dream seemed so real I felt like I could have been in East Germany during the middle to late 80's to early 90's.

I did not have this dream, a friend did, and I'm trying to work it out. I have searched it online and in my dream books, but would like some other opinions. I'm sorry I don't have much to work with. In the dream, my friend was at some sort of gathering. Someone (he does not remember who) walked up to him and gave him and evergreen (probably fir or pine). He felt very happy about this.

mean, you've been in a situation when someone has made a joke and somebody else doesn't get it. And I think you have to know alot to be able to joke about it.

Do you think people who are naturally funny tend to be smarter?

Last night I felt my bed shake pretty hard. I also heard three knocking noises. I tried to make my bed shake by me moving but it won't shake. I tried alot of things to make it shake and make the same sound but it won't. And also, my brother saw an "orb" a few nights ago but he didn't say anything until my mom brought up what had happend to me. I am really scared. I know it sounds stupid to be scared when really nothing happend. What do you think happend? This could have been just my brother and I imagining it beacause we were both like half asleep.

Is it possible to touch the happiness with the points of your fingers?

2007-11-02 13:57:43 · 9 answers · asked by Anonymous in Psychology

My girlfriend (before I knew her) was going to med school, but had some family problems that caused her grades to drop, and she failed out. This was 2 years ago... I only started dating her this summer, but it's apparent to me now she's not over it. She was really reserved about her past (didn't even want to tell me she went to medschool) and I think the problem stems from her being a huge overacheiver (and highly successful) throughout her life, and not being able to deal with that failure. After that, she aimed low in job searches, and generally has low self-esteem now.

She's been working a job that she's too smart and over-qualified for, and I've been encouraging her to apply for internships to advance her career, and she did, but now she's freaking out thinking she won't make it. She's been taking anti-depressants, and I really don't like how those sedate her.

I don't know what else to do. How can I help her get over her past?
