mean, you've been in a situation when someone has made a joke and somebody else doesn't get it. And I think you have to know alot to be able to joke about it.

Yes I do think that people who are funny tend to be smarter!! I also think that people who are funny and laugh a lot manage to keep themselves looking younger!!!!
And yes I have been in a situation where someone has made a joke and there have been people there with glum faces who haven't got a clue that its a joke!!! I usually burst out laughing and then they look at me as if I can speak alien language or something!!!
Did you also know that some people joke about and laugh about because they are shy or because they are nervous?? and that by cracking jokes etc is the only way that they can feel a little more confident because they know that people will laugh with them?

As some people have said, they are socially and verbally intelligent. Everyone is better at some things than others, which in a way makes them smart in that area, but may be worse in other areas than others. Maybe they can tell really good jokes, but they suck at math. I think intelligence is really just about how good you are at what you do, and on a wider range, it can be about how good you are in multiple areas. It all just depends on the person.

Smarter than what? I like a laugh, but I have a problem with people who tell jokes, but don't do anything to help a situation. Some very smart people don't make life better for anyone at all. In that light, I don't know what smart is.

The simple answer is of course yes.
To validate that point however, I would say just look at those we call "world leaders", the ones that are with out humor seem to get very little accomplished. The one that seem to have a sense of humor, especially self deprecating, accomplish more. Bill Clinton is a good example of that.

It depends. Some people are so stupid you can't help but laugh at them. Others are really clever so they make jokes that are outrageously funny and sometimes people won't understand the joke b/c you have to be smart to get it.

In some ways yes, The ability to understand and make humor out of a situation is certainly as much a part of your intellect as your reasoning and critical thought.

welllll...
some dumb people are REALLY funny just because it's hilarious how...dumb they are. i laugh at people's stupidity all the time without them knowing. it truly is amusing.
and then there are smart people who are really good at telling jokes or making comments that only an intellectual would understand.
so both smart and not so smart people can be funny, but smart people are intentionally funny, and dumb people are funny without even knowing it. : )

not necessarily smarter....but more clever.....
some people dont get it because they missed parts of the joke OR they were listening but didnt "hear" the joke...
or sometimes they arent very bright.....
so I dont think that makes them smarter...

i'm undecided why the funnier/smarter and richer yet i think of the reason they're warmer usually is with the aid of fact, like women, they placed lots of attempt into making themselves look goo.
