I would say that in the VAST majority of cases, they are not and certainly out of the blue rape "jokes" are never acceptable.

But if someone makes reference to my genitalia in order to demean me, I think it right and proper that I be allowed to make reference to my genitalia as a way to demean them.

Am I wrong here?

Why do feminists seem to be under the impression that this forum 'belongs' to them? (Not to women generally, mind you, just to feminists.) And why do some of these feminists want to split the forum into a Women's section and a Men's section, if they truly believe in equality and interaction as they so often claim to? Do they have something to hide? Do they have a hidden agenda of their own?
What are your thoughts?

If suicide is the only 'unforgiveable sin', then why does God say in the bible that the rejection of His only Son, Jesus Christ is the only 'unforgiveable' sin? Look in the Bible. It doesn't say people who've taken their own lives will be damned to Hell. That is just something people tell severely depressed persons' to 'scare' them (so-to-speak) into living, and not killing themselves. I believe that if someone is mentally ill, or very, very depressed, and takes their life as a last means of 'escape' from their anguish, and pain, God will have beautiful MERCY towards them, and grant them peace, and serenity in Heaven with Him and his angels. I'd definatelly miss my loved one if they decided to make the ultimate sacrafice, but I wouldn't hold it against them, and be horribly angry. I would be sad about it for a while, but would understand that they felt, at the time, whether on impulse, or not, it was something that they felt in their heart of hearts, NEEDED to be done. Thats all.

I was married for 6 years, and I'd have dreams of him leaving me or cheating on me, alot. Turns out I left him cause he was cheating on me.

Now that I've found the love of my life, the most amazing man ever, I've started having those dreams again. Why or what do they mean?

Now my friend, who i'm going out with tonight is having the same really really strong feeling that something really really good or bad is going to happen. We're still going out tonight, but we're scared. Should i trust this feeling that something bad or good is going to happen?

I'm only 25, but let's face it, you go through alot and you learn alot about humans and human nature. Many people suck, are screwed up, have agendas/motives, and are complicated, and only a total DOPE can't see this, or young people, who are clueless themselves.

I literally have come to the point where I literally hate people (not all), but I almost expect the majority of people I encounter to suck, at least in one way, if not more, and finding "god", and even therapy, can't really help ya. I mean, why take DRUGS, to deal with your own negative feelings?

I also find the whole mental illness/chemical imbalance thing a crock in a sense becuase not every negative person out there is mentally disturbed. That's laughable science. It's like saying, we're not allowed to be in bad moods anymore, since the mental health I N D U S T R Y business, wants us to think that.

They should open their eyes more and realize the complexity of life, before labelling people who see truth as nuts.

I have a terrible memory. I forget to take things home from work, stop on my way home for things, bring things from home I need at work, etc. I write notes, but sometimes forget to even write the note or forget to take the note with me or even forget I have a note. I've always been this way, yet I can remember names and events like no one else. What are some things you all do to help you remember and please don't say, "write a note" Thanks

I'm currently in the process of putting together a research paper for my Victorian America course this semester. The professor is a real sucker for topics relating to feminism and civil rights, first of all. Not that I mind. It makes it easy to figure out what sorts of topics to consider.

However, I was considering for a topic for this particularly paper, the possibility that Lizzie Borden was acquitted because she was female. An all male jury might have trouble acknowledging that a woman, and one from such a respected family, would be capable of committing a crime, based on their prejudicial views that women were delicate and pious and pure (i.e. "Cult of Womanhood" values). I've found a few scholarly articles pertaining to this potential topic, but I wanted to get some other opinions on this.

Please, serious answers only.

Okay, whenever I'd sleep, I'd have dreams of things that didn't happen yet. Like, one night I had a dream about a history test and I was working on it. But the test wasn't for a few days. Plus, it was like I was doing everything with my eyes half open. Then there was the time when I was having issues with my current boyfriend and I was dreaming that my friend said something about him being stupid. The next day, she said everything in my dream word for word. So is it Deja vu or am I crazy?

Does anyone think the media has WAY too much infuence on people? And I'm NOT just talking about teenagers and kids. The same goes for adults. These days I think the difference between children and being a "mature" adult is a very small margin. . . very small. The media seem's like a new religion. From Dr. Phil. sex and the city, the house wives ect.

What do you think, does the media have to much influence?

My husband and I went for marriage counseling to a male therapist. After sessions, I would feel frustrated and stressed out and unheard by the therapist and our relationship got worse as I would be mad at my husband and he would have this smug look that he was being supported by the therapist. Is it that therapists always support the primary patient and refuse to hear the spouse out? I literally started feeling like I was at some male convention, there was all of this peculiar bonding with my husband on the part of the therapist. I would assume that marital counseling involved an open and impartial discussion of issues. Finally, I put my foot down and said I would not go to him anymore. Should I go with a female therapist next time, will she be more receptive? Does everyone just support the patient? Maybe I should go as the patient the next time to talk about our issues!!!

Me, I try not to be-and I think I do a pretty good job. If I happen to think of something judgemental about someone I tend to keep it to myself and not let it affect the way I treat or think of that person. Just wondering how others view this issue. :)

From what I have seen, gender studies spends a lot of time bashing white males & basically liberal cultures of Europe & the US, while totally ignoring the plight of women in Saudia Arabia, Iran & countries under Sharia Law in general. I've yet to see a course that addresses the way women are stoned, beaten, raped & basically abused in the Mid East or even in the US by followers of Islam. Why not point out what happens to a woman if she decides to convert to another religion? I've noticed women's studies bashes about any religion, except Islam, for being male dominated?

I get up to go to the kitchen and realize my apartment is at a large angle, that's when I realized how severe that earthquake had been. Next thing I know my apartment does a 180 with me in it. So I evacuated and all the apartments on my side had one wall removed...I was just hoping for insurance. So I go to buy beer. I asked for Millker Lite and they gave me a generic brand instead, so my friend comes along and he said "I always pay $2" so then the clerk charged me $10. So I threw the beer down and ran out. I tried running farther because I thought they might catch me and call the cops, but I couldn't move and they didn't come either. This dream was so vivid and I slept until 1130 am so not like me...what could this mean??

I had this dream thrice.

I was going to school when 3 'fallen angels' came. They said,"Come with us." then suddenly behind them came 3 angels. After a while they fought with each other. Then 1 of the angels said "Run!

Time skipped and I arrived at a rich subdivision that doesn't look familiar. I looked back and saw the fallen angels behind me. So i ran again. After so much running around different secret passages that i seem to know of(though, that was my first time coming there in the first time i dreamed of it) i came back home (without even knowing i did)

I was instructed by 1 of the angels (b4 i got out of the subdivision) that i would find an underground passage in our garden. But suprisingly, i knew where the passage is went down there. The caretaker(or whatever he was) seems to know i would come and gave me a necklace and told me to go out immediately.

But when i climbed out, the fallen were there. "We got you"

Then I woke up. It may sound like a made-up story but its true.

Most people think that anthropologists deal with esoteric theory and do research in far-flung and isolated corners of the world. Is anthropology relevant, or on its way out? Is it simply a novelty and a fun class in college, or is it important in the context of contemporary problems?
