Sleeping at night is sometimes hard for me too, but things I have learned have helped me get to sleep easier. Get regular phisical activity throughout the day. Try not to eat 1 hour before you go to bed. Get in a normal routine of when you go to sleep and wake up. It will help your body get used to sleeping at regular times. try not to watch TV before you go to bed. It will keep your eyes open at night since your eyes have been glued to the TV. Instead, read a book or take a shower or relaxing bath. Even having a nice glass of hot tea. It's also been proven that lavendar can get you to sleep easier. I have an eyemask that has lavander in it and gets me to sleep so much easier. If I open my eyes, I see darkness so light wont wake me up. Have soft pillows and a dark room. For some people music gets them to sleep easier. For me, it doesn't. It just makes me want to get up and dance to them (lol). So if your one of those people, try to make sure it is quiet when you go to sleep. Try not to toss and turn. When you get in one stop and stay there you are likely to fall aslppe easier. Keep a water near your bed so your not up in the night getting one. Once you get up, its hard to get back to sleep.

Sweet dreams!

Don't eat anything at least two hours before you plan on sleeping. Turn off radios, tvs, or cd decks. If you really need one of these things to sleep, turn it down to barely audible When you do get ready for some serious nap time, take about 15 or 20 to do nothing but sit with your eyes closed. After that, if you don't feel you can sleep, eat a chocolate bar, wait a little bit and lay down. The chocolate is a slight sedative. Chamole also works well for nap time. Always consider bedtime a nap. It make take the strain off finding it necessary to sleep. Your nap may last longer than you think.

First, are you eating anything sugary or having any caffeine before you turn in? That can keep you awake for a while! After that, you may have a medical condition, so you should mention the problem to your doctor. Usually if I have trouble going to sleep I focus on something calming, or set up an imaginary situation which would smooth the way to dreams. Good luck!

My friend, i think you're having insomnia. To prevent this from happening, try these....

If your bedroom is too noisy or too bright, do what you can to create a quiet, dark environment with adequate ventilation and humidity; excessively dry air can cause nasal passages to shrink and make you uncomfortable. Wearing earplugs and eye shades will help to keep out distractions.

If you're working nights and simply can't sleep well during the day, ask your employer about changing back to a regular daytime job. A strategy that works for some people who must work at night involves installing lights much brighter than normal during the night shift and then wearing dark glasses as they go home and prepare for sleep. This helps to shift their circadian rhythm so they sleep better in the daytime and remain more alert at night.

Try not to be rigid about when and how much you sleep. Worrying about a sleep schedule can just make it harder to fall asleep. If you prefer taking a nap during the day and sleeping less at night, do so. The total amount of sleep you get in a 24-hour period is more important than your daily schedule.

Lavender oil on the pillow
Eat a handful of walnuts before bed
Read before turning the light out
Make sure that you take a walk during the day
A cup of hot milk works wonders
Calcium tablets at night before bed

I have found all these things very useful.

Go see a doctor and tell them this. They will find out if you have a sleep condition or give you good advice to fall asleep. You could have insomnia or RLS, or some other sleep condition. Sleep is important and your doctor might be able to prescribe you something to help you out.

The only time I cant sleep is when i'm worried about something. Or if I've had an upsetting day. Other than that I usually sleep just fine. It's just a trick of learning to relax.

Sometimes I read boring books and watch a boring movie. If that does not work I sometimes take a sleeping pill or pain pill so I can sleep. This happens when I am under a lot of stress.
