We are animals. We are made of the same flesh. We bleed just the same. Our capacity for learning is on a higher level than most animals, but don't forget that it's the same difference of chromosomes between the average human, a human with down syndrome, and a chimpanzee. I have seen animals with a higher capacity for understanding than one would expect, and I've seen some pretty stupid humans. It's not so much what we're born as that makes us great, but what we do with the life and potential intelligence we're given.

No I don't care because it's true. The only difference is that we have the ability to reason and choose. This should be what puts us at the top of the animal kingdom, but I wonder sometimes

Actually, I love being part of the Animal Kingdom, and I fully acknowledge that! The only difference we have from other animals is a huge one; we have reason. We don't soley survive on instinct. We can think things through. That's why we've come so far, and developed such strong emotions and amazing intellect.

We are also the only animal to jeopardize the fate of the Earth. Those big brains arent always a benefit.

Man is an animal. Just a different kind of animal, created for a different purpose. Doesn't bother me at all.

The only real difference between us and animals is "thinking". Animals aren't plagued with thinking " I want to change myself" or "Life is good or bad".

It would certainly be preferable to being told that one belongs to the vegetable or mineral kingdom. My usual response to those who insist that humans are not animals is "Then, are we vegetables, or minerals?"

You have answered you own question. We are animals. (Go mammals!) That's hardly an insult. I'm not sure we are the highest.

Nope - it's pretty obvious, isn't it? We've got nervous systems, we're mobile, we don't have cellulose structures that separate our cells. Although I do know a few people who resemble plant life, if you just look at their personalities...
