Allow me to propose a situation, in which there is a man and a woman who are married. Several years pass, and its become obvious that they absolutely hate the sight of each other, and want a divorce. At this point, the assets of the marriage are divided.

During the marriage, the husband worked 8 hours a day, 5 days a week while the wife decided on a more traditional role, and played housewife. No children were born during this period.

Why is it that the wife would be given approximately half the total assets of the marriage when it was the husband who put in the majority of the effort to obtain them? (I'm glazing over the fact that both contest the sharing of the assets, and the divorce court has decided on an equal split.) This is not to say that the woman did not help in maintaining her husband while he worked, but was her efforts worth half of what was earned?

Opinions?

I ask this because a lot of feminists don't mind denying an unborn child his/her inherent right to life. Human rights for all--except unborn humans!

"When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit." --Elizabeth Cady Stanton

"Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women." --Alice Paul

My dad worked constantly while I was growing up. I didn't see him much on holidays because he usually got called out to work last minute. He worked from home, and I still might not see him for a few days at a time. I respect how hard he worked to provide for his family. I've never resented him. He went to strip clubs a lot when out of town (which did disturb me), even when we were with him. Although I never hated him, I never really felt "special" to him, either, like a "daddy's girl". As I grew older, I became desperate to please men in my relationships with them and often compromised my morals to keep them from leaving me, becoming the "doormat" repeatedly. I became obsessed with my appearance and still am at 26, worrying about being sexy enough. It also seems like I've always been drawn to boyfriends' (and my husband's) dads (not sexually). My husband and I get along well, but I am jealous of other women. Can my feelings about my dad and my current state be related? Help!

Why being a housewife and rearing children becomes so unpopular and resented by today's women? What is wrong with it, actually? Do feminists feel really fulfilled emotionally by choosing careers over children and dominating the household? Would a muscular, handsome, yet subservient male give you a lasting happiness?

At what point is a market for a particular good or service operating at "economic efficiency"?

At that point of economic efficiency, what exactly is in balance?

In cases where prices are below (and above) the "market-clearing price" will we have a shortage or surplus? (Which one in which case?)

i met her through a chatroom 2 years ago, we formed a close relashionship together. she was even going to move to uk next year to be with me. unfortunatly i formed an attachment to her and felt clingy and possessive about her. but i loved her greatly to. i would fall out with her on msn, if she talked about other guys in blogs on myspace, and her putting other guys photos up on msn. but she would always come back to me, and wed make up. last argument i had with her, was over 3 weeks ago, about her deleting a loving comment i left her on myspace, but yet leaving her other friends comments displayed. she told me she had alot of guy friends, but assured me they were only friends. it still made me sulk and get upset though. i really did think i was developing a serious relashionship with her. even on the net. she was somebody i really loved and developed feelings for. she told me 2 weeks ago, she needed to review everything in her life, including our relashionship. that upset me

So, I once read in a magazine article that peoples bodies give off a certian scent that attracks the opposite sex. Is this true?

In another article, I read that actually HAVING sex makes this chemical stronger.. true?

I have a healthy/normal sex life. (Dont worry folks, i keep myself protected - EVERYONE SHOULD!).. but is there a way to drive the boys completely crazy? I'm not talking visually.

I'm just curious about this...

my 6 year old son tells me he feels like his life is a dream and he looks in the mirror
and wonders if he is really alive and sometimes he doesnt feel like he is even real, like he is dreaming and he cant feel anything. he is a
deep thinker and creative and i wonder if he is just using his imagination. i responded by telling
him i understand that life is funny and its good to think about why we are here and how god works, then i tickeled him and asked
if he could feel that. i do hope he is ok though also. i know he may have some things he wants to avoid
as our family has been through quite a bit. ( moving, remarriage). Why would he think these things? imagination?
