Like any addiction if it interferred with life and obligations. If sex became more important than feeding the dog or going to work then that's a sign. The person may try to keep it a secret and lie like one who is addicted to shopping; like when that shoppaholic comes home and you say "what did you buy?" and they say "oh just a shirt on sale" when it was actually 10 shirts and a 3 pairs of pants.
strange example but all addictions are the same when you get down to it.

I know someone that is. She put her kids in daycare so she could sleep with other men. She's a stay at home mom that put her kids into daycare so she could have the free time to go have sex while her husband is at work. It's all she talks about, all she thinks about, and when she's not having sex outside her marriage she is planning how to do so. SHE is addicted to sex without a doubt. Her emails, phone calls and in person contacts are about the sex she had, the sex she wants to have and finding a "new" man to have sex with. I asked her what she would do if her husband found out and she said "I don't care if he knows, I'm not stopping." She doesn't care if she loses her kids, if her family finds out, or if her husband divorces her. She seeks out men online and meets them for sex. The only difference between a prostitute and her, is a prostitute makes money! SHE is addicted.

addiction is a relative or word of perseption.
thats is i am confussed by the term.
someone call really like something but not be addicted to it.
and even if classified as addicted hard to say if that would mean they need it continually or once a day or once a week.
but in my opinion the only way to be classified as being "ADDICTED" to sex would mean you need it all the time you are constantly searching for someone to be with or contuinually masterbaiting. so with that in mind i think this person would have an extremely hard time doing much else but thinking and searching for that next conquest.
hope that makes sense...Lets
big differrence between someone that wants intamacy and sex. so this person would probably also be non committing.

Pretty much any addiction interferes to a great extent with daily living: too much money spent (causing the person to go heavily into debt or even lose their housing); unhealthy risks taken (too much drinking causes diseases, too much food causes obesity and a whole host of health problems, too much sex with strangers can result in STDs, etc.), too much time devoted to the pursuit (to the extent of not being able to find time to shop, cook, eat, or work), loss of relationships due to the above behaviors, loss of children due to neglect, and so on. People with addictions have a poor sense of boundaries (they'll snort coke in the bathroom at work, masturbate to porn at the office, and so on).

I would assume that one with such an affliction would seem to put personal pleasure before their health and well being. (ie: rather masterbate than eat lunch, etc.)
