I mean, like everyone owning the stock in companies, instead of just the elite owning the majority of the stock? Would that be considered communism or capitalism? (The government wouldn't own the stock, it would still be owned by the people)

In my job i drive every day and experienced a case of road rage directed at me today. I acted undeterred by it but in reality it shook me up. Why are some drivers so nasty? I don't get that way and i drive alot daily.

My previous question was misworded. Allow me to apologize.

Pesticides allow for the cheaper production of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants. Antioxidants are one of the most important deterrants of cancer.

Without pesticides, fruits and vegetables would be prohibitively expensive for many people, so people would not get enough antioxidants, and as a result, would more commonly develop cancer.

Crude oil is almost $50 dollars a barrel; down from more than $70 last April. Yet, gas isn't much cheaper than it was last April; still almost $3 dollars a gallon in some places in CA. Is there some explanation other than that the gas companies are just screwing us?

I mean, really. Our company just hired a temp receptionist, and every horny technician, guys who you normally NEVER see in the lobby, are hanging out there, trying to make the girl laugh. They're sniffing her out like a bunch of dogs. I'm surprised one of them hasn't pissed on her to mark his territory.

I understand being single and horny, but even when I was single, I didn't behave like an idiot. Well, I actually did behave like an idiot most of the time, but not in this particular manner.

From time to time I gain insight into what it is I must do to feel better about myself and how I must live my life to be happier. It seems that I am unable to keep these thoughts in the forefront of my mind. It’s as though I have a problem concentrating or focusing long enough on these thoughts to insight an action that would propel me to the realization or manifestation of the desires the thoughts instill. I know what it is I must do but somehow fail to do it. It is as if there is some malfunction between having the knowledge and acting on that information. What could be obstructing me from taking action?

I am stunned at the level of bad grammer, poor spelling, no capitalization, etc. that people allow when they ask or answer a question. What you publish is a reflection of your effort, intent and care. Why present a profoundly flawed statement and still expect people to value what you say? I am baffled and somewhat disheartened. Any insights will be helpful.

Every generation has a constituency of people who feel like everything was perfect in the past and that society is quickly and irrevocably going down hill in every way possible. Some go so far as to predict the imminent end of the world within their lifetimes. Otherwise simply complain about certain aspects of society.

You know the type: the 40-something guy who thinks that music was at its apogee in the 1980's and has been nothing but crap since, as if his parents and grand-parents and great-grand-parents didn't lament about the same thing; the recluse who complains about how all marriages were perfect and all children were innocent and respectful in his day; the suburban housewife who predicts the death of American culture at the hands of ethnic and religious minorities, as if our culture were some immutable constant that had remained unchanged since 1776 only to die as foreign foods & tongues and imagined anti-Christmas sentiment proliferated.

Is there a name for this tendency?

.....that overall, women are at least somewhat worse at communication (within romantic relationships) than men. I can see the eyes bugging out and the shoulders tensing up as you ladies type your responses, but hear me out. Of course, there are exceptions to this generality I've put forth, but too often, women do the equivalent of asking their man to bring a knife to a gunfight, when they are discussing the relationship/duties/money. Usually, the guy will be trying to be logical, and see where the reasonable responsibility lies. Whereas the woman, she's operating on a different set of values and, more importantly, standards. She's keeping score, but is less likely to factor in facts that the man brings up that might change that score. She wants the guy to read her mind. Bottom line, she expects her man to see things the way she does, when she knows he can't; whereas the man expects the woman to see things the way he does, because he knows she can, but won't at that time.

It seems that I have to work twice as hard as everyone else to stay organized at work! I make lists and have a place for everything so I can stay on top of my work load.
But sadly, as soon as things start to heat up and get stressful I am making mistakes. Sometimes obvious mistakes! How do I stay in control and not get flustered when I am in a stressful situation???
The ADD has always made it difficult for me to succeed at a job or go to school! Now I have a job I love and I use so much energy just trying to stay at required performance!
I know that many people with ADD have successful careers, but I haven't figured out HOW!!!
I do take Ritalin, and it helps A LOT! But I also understand that I need to learn skills to compensate for the ADD.
Please Help!!!

How do you find your happiness and contentment? Is it drinking a cup of tea or a glass of scotch? Does it come from your family and friends or maybe a more spiritual source?

If the fantasy that drives us blinds up to the value of what is real and possible, we're doubly lost: neither perfect nor able to gracefully "be" ourselves. We abide in the famous zone dubbed by Freud as "neurotic misery".

Is the impulse to be better ultimatly the toxin that destroys relationships?
Are we being uphappy because we cannot be who we want to be instead of accepting who we are?
Is having a dream ultimatly the dagger to the heart?
