I was feeling lost and hopeless for months; sabotaging things and relationships that could have mad eme happy. I don't know why I did it, it was the source of my depression. I went to see a Dr. and she diagnosed me with BiPolar Disorder. All she wanted to do was put me on medication instead of listening to my problem. I took the medication for awhile, willing to try anything to feel better, but it didn't work because I now felt like there was something really wrong with me. I started feeling like commiting suicide because I couldn't handle it anymore. I overdosed on the medication and I just want you to know that it has been proven that anti-depressants are to blame for many depressed people trying or commiting suicide. I took myself off of the medication and began thinking of all the reasons why I should live. I also started writing about my past, even the things that I had done wrong and why I thought I had done them. Once I finished it I read over it. I was very dissapointed in the choices that I had made in my life but I realized that by admitting to myself what I had done and why I felt much better. You can then share it with someone who you think will be sympathetic and nonjudgemental. They can help you validate your feelings and you will finally be sharing your pain with someone. It really helped me! Whatever you do just remember that we all fall short. No one is perfect. You will be ok! I promise! All you need to do is find out what is bothering you. What is the source of your pain?

TALK TO SOMEONE. When I went through a bad stage of depression, it was hard to talk to anyone about it. By its very nature, depression makes you feel like nobody cares, and that nothing is gonna make things better. You need to talk in confidence to someone, be it a friend or your doctor. Medication may help, but the support of a friend is often the best thing. Don't stay confined to your home - get out and about, get washed and dressed each day, do your routine jobs. The worst thing is to shut yourself away and neglect yourself - that just makes for a viscious circle - a downward spiral where things will just get worse. Many people have experienced epression and come through it - it is an illness after all. Take action to gte help or support, and you should feel better - maybe not immediately, but over time. Best wishes, Maki

Me too sometimes.

I don't believe in the smack people preach about going to a dr. a swallowing pills.. I mean sure give it a try but it is not the be-all end-all answer and you get fat!

1. Take Fish Body Oils for the brain.
2. if your still young don't do another illegal drug or become an alchoholic.
3. Eat oatmeal for breakfast.
4. Pray to God
5. SOCIALIZE anyway you can.
6. Take St Johns Wort and Vitamin B
7. Start doing something you love again.
8. STOP EATING CRAP, CANDY, WORTHLESS FOOD etc.
9. DO EAT more fruits and vegetables.

Don't listen to the person below who said your not depressed if these things help. She/he is clueless and should be sent to timeout for saying such a thing.

Do not go shopping!!! You will end up with less money and be more depressed...SERIOUSLY!!!

What is causing you to feel depressed? Death, breakup, loss of job.
If it was either of those you can handle it. Just adress the issue and take it one step at a time.

your nick name is i am strong. then how can you get depressed? take the life as a challenge and develop positive outlook towards it. as long as we live we have to face problems and solve them.if you have feelings like , withdrawing from the society, unnecessarily tears coming in your eyes, getting suicidal thoughts, change in the behavior all of a sudden and talking philosophically , it means you are attacked by clinical depression, which is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain or due to loss of job, death of relatives and close friends,if you are depressed, it is called reactive depression.in case your depression makes your life miserable, please don't rely on the advices of the quacks, who are not authorized to speak on clinical depression, consultation of a good qualified psychotherapist or a psychiatrist is necessary.

Call a doctor then get up and do something! wash the windows, wash the dishes, scrub the bathroom, mop the floors,
physical activity is good for depression but it won't cure it.
You need professional help.

if any of the above answers helps, youo're NOT depressed.

People these days exagurate too much. Depression is not to be mistaken with feeling a bit down. If you're depressed, go see a psychiatrist to help you find out what the cause is - or take anti-depressants.
