...of the "socially challenged"? In other words, what purpose does it really serve to acknowledge those individuals (we all know who they are) whose only excitement in life seems to come from thrusting their racist and socially unacceptable beliefs and opinions into this forum. If it is literally an effort in futility to try to reason with the unreasonable or make sense of the unsensible, why do so many of "us" continue to try? How will this question be interpreted and by whom will it be answered... The rational and intelligent, or the "socially challenged"? Who will place themselves in the wrong category? Let's have some fun. Thanks...

I thought it was illegal to give somebody a lower pay because of their sex. Is this actually happening, and wouldn't an employer pay somebody as little as possible (male or female) for obvious economic reasons?

she doesnt have poor self esteem...she has no self esteem. no matter what i say or do she thinks she is the lowest being on earth. ive told her how great of a person she is and how beautiful she is on a regular basis, trying to help her out, but it actually seems that its had a negative effect. she starts actually getting defensive, and tells me to stop lying and such when i tell her those things. she thinks im just being nice to her, but in reality i am a brutally honest person. i give her personal space, so i dont know every little detail about everything in her life. ive told her multiple times she can tell me anything about any problem, but she still thinks im just trying to spare her feelings. how can i help her build up her self esteem?

This really stinks. I lost my 2 best friends over a stupid fight. it's simple (well not really lol) i told them i felt left out when i hung out with them like it seemed they would exclude me > they got mad at me > we "resolved" it > they started doing it again > i talked to them bout it > they got mad and said that i "shouldnt give them that crap again" > we "resolved" it > i ignored them one day cuz i was fed up with their dumb ways and getting mad just cuz i told them how i felt > they said that ignoring them was soo "rude" but i just didnt wanna explode with anger on them > they decided to take a "break" from me and decide if they were mad or not > I sent them a 500 word apology email that was really deep > (continued at bottom)

I know several people, including myself, that have been left stranded when things have gone awry. One friend of mine got cancer at 22, leaving her out of work (although insured) for about 6 months. Although a couple thousand was payed by insurance, she now owes around $27,000 for all the medication and time spent in the hospital, as well as the removal surgery. Why is it that when we need help the most, our security blankets fail us and we're left to fend for ourselves? Why do we spend thousands a year on taxes and insurance just to be left in the cold when we need help? Finally, why does the vast majority of Americans do the "dirty work" while the rest reap the benefits? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of fighting for the scraps.

I know I'm EMO because I listen to EMO music and I am depressed almost all the time. I dont dress much like an EMO though. I love black shirts or whatever... I love black (they say it's a characteristic of a goth.. whatever). I also used to cut myself but now I dont anymore--only once in a blue moon. I also hide my feelings and as much as possible, I wont talk about my feelings. I help my friends with their problems and give them advices but they dont hear me open up a conversation about my problems.

I can relate to My Chemical Romance's songs.

I DONT CRY... (except in those very few times that I can't take it anymore) it makes me feel weak when I cry...

I want to change.. I want to be the person I once was before that incident that made me EMO.. I want to laugh, smile, and be happy again. I want to make the people around me feel good again.. i want to be like that person again.. but.. I LOVE EMO esp the music and some of its styles..

AM I still EMO if I do that??

When students enter my professor's classroom, he always greets them and asks them how are they doing. But when i come in, he'll look up but quickly look right back down to his papers. He never makes eye contact with me when i want to answer my questions or comment on the current chapter. Is it the way i look or is he like get a certain vibe/aura from me that's not welcoming? It makes me sad and worried that i am irritating him. hmm, what do u guys think?

Well, the problem is that I'm too much of a damn push-over!!! I'll give you some examples of my " door-mat" manner:
1. A friend and I walked up to the convenience store over our lunch break at school. You have to wait in line to get in the store because the owners don't like too many people in at once ( they could steal). So, me and my friend got in line and these 2 guys just walked right in front of us----AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO LOOK AT US AND SMIRK!!!
2. I was standing in the cafeteria line at school and there were these guys standing behind me and all of a sudden, one of them just walked right in front of me, with a stupid grin on his face.
3. We were painting in art class and I left some of the supplies out ( I was planning on cleaning it up before the end of class) and this girl was like, " Excuse me, you should pick that up, you're not aloud to leave it there," ( she said that in a very prissy, high n' mighty tone), I ignored her, then she told the teacher who made me pick it up. That girl had nor eason to have anything against me, and I STILL didn't do anything.
Anyways, those events and COUNTLESS others have mouldes me into what I am today, a full-flegded push-over!!! How can I stop being this way, I'm tired of being walked all over! I'm placid by nature, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
