Let me share this story with you, and maybe it will help renew your faith in people and the Christmas spirit.
I use a wheelchair whenever I have to cover a lot of ground, and today, I was out doing some Christmas shopping. I was tired and cold, and I was struggling just to get up the steep curb cut into one of the stores.
A young guy on a skateboard stopped, got off his skateboard, and said, "Can I help you?" He proceeded to push me up the ramp, open the door, and help me inside. When I thanked him, he just smiled and said, "Well, we're supposed to help other people."
He may not know it, but he did a lot to make this Christmas a memorable one for me. That was the spirit of Christmas in action!

Sadly that's true, everyone is in such a rush these days that no one has any time to be polite or considerate. The last generation was raised by parents who just give and give, never ask questions not do they really want to know so now there are thousands of these younger people who just "expect" because it's all about them. We also have an huge influx of immigrants and with each ethic group comes different faiths, beliefs and cultural practices. While that is not necessarily a bad thing people from different backgrounds don't always know how to take these actions or words. This ends up in a breakdown of communication or shunning of certain groups. This can, and sometime does, result in groups closing inward and they become self centered about what's important to them and their group only. It's a tough question to answer, there are so many factors that go into this one. My observation stated here is merely the tip of the iceberg.

It has become so commercialized everyone has forgotten the true meaning of Christmas, It's Christ's birthday a time to remember loved ones and renew our faith in God. People are too consumed with getting the best or the most gifts. I would rather have a truly old fashioned Christmas and just gather with loved ones than to receive gifts. That's all anyone cares about anymore.

Christmas spirit has gone by the wayside of getting the "best" gift for others instead of finding one of the heart that you know they will love. It seems like everyone is back in the "me" syndrome and they really don't care about others. We need to stop trying to out buy eachother and start gettin the ones that they will know you spent a lot of time getting or making.
