I don't care much for this one particular man. But he's always making faces, acting strange, projectedly talking, impulsive laughing, even avoiding my eyes when I am around him. It's annoying and he better stop because I don't like jerks or stuckups and all. Give me your opinions people. What's his problem?

I just saw Oprah and she did a show on "Challenge Day" at a high school. Over 10 years ago, I did this in a college psychology class. To say the least, it was powerful.

Have you done this at your school? Did it change things on a permanent level or was it temporary?

If you don't know what Challenge Day is, check out Oprah's website and see the highlights, I am pretty sure they should be posted there.

My mother was killed in a car accident. She died on impact. The night before her funeral, I was sleeping at my Dad's house, and I was awakened in the middle of the night by a very bright light against my closed eyelids.I opened my eyes & saw two globe shaped balls of light hovering unevenly over me. It lasted for a few seconds. They took off as though they were traveling in a 3-dimensional way, as something you might see on TV, then disappeared.I know it was not a reflection of light from outside because my father had boarded up the bedroom window because of an air-conditioner he had installed. The bedroom door was also shut so there could have been source of light like this from inside the house.I thought she must be traveling with a guide. The night of her funeral, I felt her presence behind me.It felt like great love and compassion for my suffering.I felt her rub my back. When I spoke of this to others who were in the room, she disappeared.I do believe in God & heaven. What do u think?

Typicaly, I'll spend 10-15 minutes writing a detailed response to the question only to have the asker (who is asking because they don't know) pick the best answer from an equally uninformed person who has an easier and cheaper urban legand answer. Why bother? I only answered to help and it's frustrating! I want to yell "No-oooooooo, don't do that!

This could be a very elementary question so I apologize in advance:
Our eyes can see electromagnetic waves within a small band of frequencies. We perceive specific frequencies in this band as specific colors. The lowest frequencies we see are red, while the highest are violet, with the entire range of other colors in between. The whole of the EM spectrum is a LINEAR scale, with frequencies from 0 to ∞, so it seems that the colors we see are rather arbitrary. But it you connected the ends of the visible spectrum (red to violet), you would essentially get the color wheel, where the layout of the colors is now CYCLICAL. What is the psychology behind this, if any?

A person I know talks to himself. It's not angry or violent words, just like he's acting out a dialogue scene from a movie or learning lines or something. He just talks. Any idea what this means - when someone just talks to themselves?

In other words, to be psychologically healthy and happy, do we need to have boy/girlfriends and/or husbands and wives? Or can we be perfectly happy and healthy without them? If we need them, then what are the detriments to not being in a serious relationship? If we can be happy and healthy without them, then why do many people feel compelled to form serious relationships?
