When I was a kid growing up in Illinois I used to see these things come up out of the ground. I called them lobsters. Nobody EVER believed me and said I was nuts. Now I'm an adult living in Kentucky and my son showed me these things he found out by the garage. They must have been the things I used to see when I was a kid. WHAT ARE THEY? I know they're not lobsters, I live in Kentucky! not anywhere near any water either.

In science, we were learning about amphibians and how they live in both water and on land. Also, a snake is a reptile, and is only a reptile, but some live on both land and water, so what are they? Amphibian or reptile?

We have hundreds of huge wolf spiders and only a very few tiny web building spiders in our house. They range from Cream spiders, daddy long legs, house spiders, grass spiders. The only meal I see that the web spiders are eating are the wolf spiders. I thought Wolf Spiders had excellent eyesight and are great hunters?

I was watching my cat Griffin thoroughly enjoy himself yesterday rolling around in the warm dirt. I know that Sparrows love to play in the dirt, and my Mom's Horses also take the occasional "Dirt-Bath". I think Elephants do too...

Besides being enjoyable to the animal, what scientific purpose does rolling around in the dirt have (if any)? Can some please explain this to me?!

Thanks!

I rececently went on a camping trip; it was so strange: After two days, the birds started flying lower and the frogs croaked more. Then it rained, and afterwards the birds and frogs were back to normal. Why is this?

Other than humans I know that dolphins and Bonobos have sex for pleasure. Do pigs as well, considering they have a 30 minute orgasm?

This random bird a few days ago starts flying towards my window and hitting its beak on the window. The bird has done this consistently since it started. When i come to the window, it sits right near the window, tilts its head and just stares at me. There has got to be at least 70+ marks on the window from this bird. Why is the bird doing this?

I notice in my house...whenever an ant gets squished and not picked up, another ant comes a little while later and carries it away. Why is this? What do they do with their dead?

during summer? Personally I am very pro-seal. I dont like fur coats made of them and I would like to see more of them around. The savage manner in which these polar bears slaughter the seals is unforgivable. Watch the videos of the Polar bears waiting for the seals to come up for air. You know the seal is thinking I gotta get some air but the bear is going to nail me. Then ripped to shreads. And dont give me the "thats nature" excuse!!
