This random bird a few days ago starts flying towards my window and hitting its beak on the window. The bird has done this consistently since it started. When i come to the window, it sits right near the window, tilts its head and just stares at me. There has got to be at least 70+ marks on the window from this bird. Why is the bird doing this?

During nesting time they become very territorial. They aren't self aware, so when they see their own reflection, they think they are seeing another bird of the same sex in their territory and will try to attack it.

They usually do it when there building a new nest, I had one for months waking me up at all hours trying to get the led off my window, its not just one species either I've had Magpies, several types of **** an finches and even a jay that was very noisey!!! Had one that managed to crack one of the small panes when I was younger an I got a slap round the legs for it to, my mum so didn't believe me, well she does now 'cus last year another bird did the same thing to her bedroom window. They usually stop after a while.
Also the can be a bit like a clown fish when your diving they see there reflection in your mask an come an size it up, just a thought.

Maybe it wants to go outside? Has it seen any birds outside the window? When I let my birds out the cage, one of them always goes to the window and steps side to side in front of it wanting to go out. He even flies up at the window. He sees the other birds outside and wants to be with them. Makes me sad really. :( Hmm, that sounds funny though.

Edit - Oh wow, it's wild? That's crazy haha. I have no clue why. I had the same problem too though, these little birds woke me up in the morning pecking at my window and when i opened the blinds I freaked them out. They stopped after about a week. That's really strange.
