Where has our summer gone? We live in North Lincolnshire which has been severely affected by the floods of July and now. It's now pelting it down again and it has done all day. We haven't been given any sandbags but having said that, our road hasn't suffered badly.
However, on our way home from work, it was obvious that that the hotspots from last month are building up again.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?

We are all keenly aware of Global Warming and the dire consequences it is having on Mother Earth. With melting icecaps, retreating glaciers, rising sea levels, more violent storms and hurricanes, and generally a temperature that rises exponentially; we are inevitably in a similar position as the occupants of train that is speeding its way off a cliff, bringing all life on Earth together with us unless something drastic is done or takes place to reverse the trend. We know what needs to be done, but as we stand today, we are lacking the will and the unity to make necessary sacrifices. Scientific models show that if the trend continues, life on earth may be wiped out before the end of the century. Does this mean that the train will hurtle off the cliff in a few generations' time? What do you think?

I am going to be moving from California to Gainesville, Fl next year. I am buying a house there and I am very concerned about hurricanes. I am worried that if I buy a house, there is a good chance it will be destroyed/damaged. Could you please tell me if it is a real problem over there or whether it is all exaggerated.
Thanks

I understand that there are roughly 2.5 millibars to 1" water gauge and that there are 1000 millibar to a bar. I understand that my gas pressure comes in to my house at 21 mbar and that this gas has been broken down by a piece of equipment from 2 bar of gas. But how does atmospheric pressure work. At the end of the weather each day they mention that the pressure in the air is for example 1080mb. how does that effect the day or the weather or what???????????

I know this is a naive question.

But it doesn't hurt to ask just to be sure.

Do the proximity of the ocean and the desert temperatures influence on the harshness of the winds?

I live in southern California I wish Dean come to California. I check Dean's project path look still keep go westward and I think Dean will may impact south Texas or Mexico and still keep to go westward over Mexico next week although Dean will dissipate over mountains in Mexico but still tropical moisture of remnants Dean bring some need rain to California if system keep go westward. I wish this! I don't want Dean turn northward to U.S. gulf coast or Texas that don't need rain because have many summer storms. I say keep Dean go westward toward California. Do you agree with me?

I wish heavy rainfall of remnants Dean in California but I know Hurricane or tropical storm Dean will die over mountains or land in Mexico. Maybe be very interesting in Tropical system from Atlantic has rare to go toward U.S. southwest even California. I hope this!
