I know this is a naive question.

But it doesn't hurt to ask just to be sure.

Do the proximity of the ocean and the desert temperatures influence on the harshness of the winds?

Yes there are sandstorms on beaches. They are usually minor in nature, so not really classified as such. Both temperature and oceanic proximity, will influence wind factors.

No. There are no sandstorms on beaches. The sand is too moist to be carried by wind in the way dry desert sand can be.
