We are all keenly aware of Global Warming and the dire consequences it is having on Mother Earth. With melting icecaps, retreating glaciers, rising sea levels, more violent storms and hurricanes, and generally a temperature that rises exponentially; we are inevitably in a similar position as the occupants of train that is speeding its way off a cliff, bringing all life on Earth together with us unless something drastic is done or takes place to reverse the trend. We know what needs to be done, but as we stand today, we are lacking the will and the unity to make necessary sacrifices. Scientific models show that if the trend continues, life on earth may be wiped out before the end of the century. Does this mean that the train will hurtle off the cliff in a few generations' time? What do you think?

A pretty good article on the subject - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming, also a recommended watch - Al Gore's video "An Inconvenient Truth"

Well said...

But we human beings have a distinct lack of urgency about anything unless we see it before our eyes we rarely act with haste ... so sadly no matter how many Live earth concerts and government initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint we introduce etc.. our earth will eventually self - destruct.

Nothing lasts forever... not even planet earth ... we have to make sure we are right with G-d on the last day because everything we do must be accounted for..

Moreover, we can try to do our bit by recycling etc.. but the fact is we have already started to late we need to act with incredible urgency to stop the inevitable...

...or maybe we should just jump planets and choose an alternative one to live on...

...can we buy a planet hopper ticket on ebay??? .... oh no.. well..um it was worth a try...! lol!

Global Warming is not true, All it is, is an advertisement that stupid people who think they are helping a good cause give money to that people stuff into there pockets and do no research at all. Hears a couple of examples why global warming is not true - - first off the so called scientist state the fact that the ice caps are melting and show you sad pictures of polar bears dieing. Truth be told that the Not so long ago, the Ice caps were recorded 3 inches thicker than ever recorded on history. - Evidence show that the 1000 years ago the earth was hotter than it is today - Nasa has stated that the hottest years of the Century were not the 90's or 00's but the 1930's - Arctic website Crysophere Today reported that Arctic ice volume was 500,000 sq km greater than this time last year. - Ten years ago Different Scientists were telling people that it was global freezing, it just did not get as much media coverage. Truth be told its a big scam for you to fork over your money for them telling you a lie. The Earth goes through out cycles that make it get hot and cold. We Just have to live with it a realize we cant change it.

Apart from the fact that the Earth was warmer 10,000 years ago than it is today, apart from the fact that ice on water displaces the same volume, apart from the fact the atmosphere held far more C02 in the Cretaceous, apart from the fact Al Gore is a prat and apart from the fact the computer models all these doomsday scenarios are based on are fatally flawed there is nothing wrong with your question.

If climate change takes the worst case scenario all human life might be forced into extinction but it does not mean all life will end. During the Cretaceous/Tertiary extinction 90% of species on Earth became extinct but our mammallian ancestors survived. However, there is increasing evidence that mankind has nothing to do with the current slight warming we have been seeing over the past 30 years.

Computer models used to predict the climate 100 years in the future have to use so many assumptions in order to run in a timescale that humans can deal with that they are worse than useless, yet the Environmental brigade insist they are accurate. We don't even know if warming will increase or decrease cloud cover so how can you model that? You can't so they guess. Lets face it they struggle to get the weather right tomorrow so don't believe the forecasts for next century. 30 years ago they were worried we might be heading for an ice age.

I suggest as a counter to Al Gore's hysterical docu- comedy you read Michael Crichton's State of Fear, a scientifically researched and reference work, unlike some I could mention.

We owe it to the future to husband the resources our home has but to think we can control the planet we live on is egotistical to the extreme.

Dude, why don't you relax. Sea level is not rising there are many glaciers still growing, the oceans have been cooling for the last four years and Antarctica keeps getting colder. In another decade it will be very obvious that the world will continue to cool and global warming will be the biggest joke of this decade.

Global warming ended in 2003.

Hate to say it but we need to focus what could happen on April 13, 2036, not 2100. Do you real Popular Science Magazines? Well, there is a HUGE Astroide in space that scientists say may or may not hit Earth. Global is not a big issue, yet. What is in space is. we have approx. 26 years to figure out how to solve the astroid promplem, and almost 70 years to figure out global warming. Be worried about whats in space, not on Earth!

You are a pawn is someone's political game. Even if the worst dire predictions come true "all life" will not be destroyed. There will be some flooding and expantion of deserts... it's not the end of the world.

End the overhype histeria over global warming now!

Not all life will be destroyed. Humans may die but other life forms will thrive. I do not think this is the end of ALL life on earth. Don't exaggerate to make your point there is enough of that already.
